An interview with...=rml-stock
1:
First off - what inspired you to start a stock account?Funny you should ask
It was actually using some of your stock that got me going.
(D'aww)My art account was primarily photography, but I wanted to improve my PS3 skills so I did a few manipulations using dA stock.. That got me paying attention to the stock and resource galleries. It wasnt long before I realized what an incredible asset they are to artists of all kinds.
I had the need to feel useful, and since I wasnt very good at manipulations, I started offering some of my photography as stock. It just snowballed from there.
2:
How did you choose your username? My initials are RML. Go figure
3:
What is it about the stock community that keeps you active? A couple of things. First and foremost, it is
the community. My fellow stock artists are an amazing group of people. Those who provide resources basically exist to help others create art. That makes for a great group to work with. (That, and most of them are a bit touched, so I fit right in)
Second, its the incredible art that people make using my stock. I always look forward to seeing what other will do with a resource that I have provided.
4:
How would you like your stock to be used more? Most of my stock is location or background images. I would really like to see one that didnt involve a horse
5:
Do you have any tips for people starting a stock account? Two things:
1. Get a good camera. A stock image is worthless if its grainy, blurry, or low resolution.
2. Dont do an entire gallery of arm extension MySpace poses. If you are going to do stock, get a tripod.
6:
Why chose to stock at DA and not morguefile/sxc/photlia/etc. .
That goes back to the community. The other resource sites dont have the same type of community that we have here on DA.
That, and DA has Llamas and Mudkips
7:
How far would you go to take a stock picture? Well, for the Fossil Falls
[link] series of shots, I had to hike about a mile in 100 degree weather. Then had to climb up to the top of a 80 lava floe. I almost died... (okay, not quite, but I was hot and got a blister on my little toe)
Ever since `
pendlestock fell through the ceiling of that abandoned house trying to shoot stock, I have tried to emulate her as much as possible. So I do whatever it takes to get the shot I want. That, and I fall down a lot...
8:
Are there any things that you wish people would stop doing with your stock? See the answer to #4. Dont get me wrong. I, like everyone else, think horses are beautifully majestic animals. But come on
9:
Show me three of your favourite stock uses!

10:
Is there anyone at dA whose stock you particularly admire, or have any other stock artists influenced your own work? There are simply too many to mention, but I shall try. I have always loved =
Cat-in-the-Stocks work (despite his affection for squirrels).
*
LongStock really puts a lot into her model stock, as does =
Tw1stedTruth-stockOh, and how could I leave out `
pendlestock. I love her cause shes a klutz like me.
11:
You have an Auschwitz folder in your gallery, how did you find that experience? It was such an emotional experience, I really do feel it changed me. It is one thing to read of the tragedy of a place like that, but it is entirely different to actually feel the weight of the sadness yourself. Some of the buildings were almost overwhelming to even walk through.
My Auschwitz stock is some of the only stock I put restrictions on. I want to make sure that whatever is done with it is respectful of what those pictures represent.
12:
You have an undying love for the Hoff, how did that come about? I am a California native, so I will admit to watching every episode of Baywatch, and even getting to see it filmed a couple of times. I will also admit, after a few drinks, to seeing Baywatch Nights on occasion.
How can you not love the Hoff?
13:
Who'd win in a gravy wrestling contest - `pendlestock or ^LawrenceDeDark? My money is on Molly
but I think LDD would put up a good fight.
Thank you =
rml-stock! Keep an eye on him for he will be a daddy in a few weeks!

And the horses...dear gods the horses....
Why do I feel like I wouldn't mind if it were an "adorable kitten" or "funny looking snail" epidemic.

I yearn for kittens! I would gladly take a gaggle of SNOLICS over another horse manipulation...
