STORIES OF MYTHOLOGY

To the Main Contest Journal!

From Rome to the British isle - history is full of myths and legends. Stories told that echo the cultures they came from even after centuries. What stories inspire you? For us it was the myths of Angels and Demons, a taste for Egyptian and Middle Eastern lore. But what do you see when you look at our characters and their relationships we've created? Something Greek and Classical? Something Hindu and Wild? It's only limited to your imagination!

MAJOR DEITIES

For this contest, the models are our characters of Coia and Haera but the inspiration are the myths and legends of the world. This means you can go wherever your imagination takes you when you think about myths. You can depict your own favorite myth, draw our models as characters in a myth that suits their stories, show the characters as the deities of a pantheon or anything in between. So long as you make reference to the myth or deities you're inspired by and use our characters as your guide.

CHARACTERS Your submission needs to include two of our characters who are in a relationship. They can be in a romantic relationship or connected in other ways, such as family, friends or enemies. We have plenty of reference for all of these couples and they are all piled into these large 'cheat sheets'; for quick and easy reference!

MINOR DEITIES Boy-love and fluff are most certainly allowed, but we do ask that it be suitable for DA so no porn or erotica. This counts even if you're submitting from y!G; we must be able to link to the picture from DA.

Your submission can be in a traditional medium, digital medium, mixed media, comics, polished line work or sketch. But CAN NOT be a doodle, scrap or on lined paper.

You can submit as many as three different works of art, but only one will be able to place.

The judging will be based on the creativity of the piece and its originality. They will also be judged on how well the idea of Mythology was captured in the piece and the amount of effort put into it.

The Honourable Judges! Please treat them with respect! Thank you much for your help guys!
Plus a hidden judge in the event of ties.

It can be anything from as small as journal features to as large as DA subs or commission offers. Even the offer to make the winner stamps or icons, access to exclusive stock pack or prints. Anything your heart desires. There's lots you can add to the list of prizes we have already!

Remember! Just because you donated something to the prizes doesn't mean you can't enter or win. Even if you donated a prize you are still more than welcome and even invited to enter!

Rules:

Should involve at least two of the characters in the above list. Remember, they don't have to be the pair listed! They can be any combination of the characters provided it shows the type of relationship they have. All of this information - including personality - can be found in the description in each of the cheat sheets.

The reference to 'mythology' should be the main theme of the story and it can be referenced in any way you see fit. It can be a character telling a story tailored to the person they're telling it to. A parody of myth using the characters. Several characters discussing mythology in general. It can be a story of characters echoing a mythological piece. So long as the theme clearly shows through.

It CAN NOT be a simple retelling of the myth with replaced characters.

Don't restrict yourself to a fantasy setting! There's nothing wrong with a modern setting, a real life setting, a World of Darkness setting, the time period of the myth itself - it's entirely up to you!



Entries for prose must be above 250 words but no more than 2500 (That's in the 1-to-10 pages range); any entries for poetry must be at least 50 words.

It should be a new piece of writing - submitted just for this contest.

The judges from the art section are allowed to enter as the writing section will be judged by reads outside of DA.
