Giving to those who are truly in need

=ImaRawkStar:iconImaRawkStar: reports, December 23
This is the time of year of which we all get tangled up in our own troubles and do not focus on some of the real issues of the world. Well, heifer.org can help us with this, by giving animals to families who are truly in need of food, shelter and security.

By donating a small sum of money, such as ten to twenty dollars, you could provide a family with an animal such as a cow, which could produce milk for the family, for food and cooking. With the extra milk it produces, the family can go to the local market and sell the milk to gain more money, which could go towards food and shelter. Over time, the family will start to gain an income and will be able to earn an education.

With the education, they can receive a steady job and produce a stable income for the family to survive. Just by donating a small sum of money, you could not change one life, but many around them. But this is not just it, the family MUST produce offspring to give to another family, which will do the same thing as the family before. Over time, the community will grow and sooner or later, the impoverished areas will start to gain strength.

Even if you can not donate any money, please donate a few seconds or minutes by adding a favorite to this article and sending it on to other deviants around deviantart. It would be really awesome if we could get some support on this, and maybe as an art community we can pull together to help others in need! I know it can be done!

Rape is not just a crime, it is a heinous and personal invasion on the most intimate of levels. Rape destroys lives and belittles its victims. End the silence, conquer fear, and speak up. We need to raise awareness and help prevent this inhumane crime.

Quit with the harassment already....

*Poetic-Dragon:iconPoetic-Dragon: reports, February 27
You are harassing me.

Isn't one of the reasons to have a subscription is not to have ads? [link] It says it in at least two places on the buy a subscription page, one of which is even highlighted!

And yet, a couple days ago, I get THIS [link] :pissed: in my notices and then today I log in to find one about Corel. Why should I even buy a subscription OR anyone else for that matter of fact, if you are going to spam us with ads we don't want?

This is bs. You keep doing more and more stuff that make it pointless for us subscribers to continue to buy a subscription. Which hey ,use your brains here, means LESS people subscribing. I know a few people who are no longer subscribing because you can now see everything in your message center now, which used to be a privledge for subscribers only...up until that updated version back last July. How much money have you lost already because of that?

Seriously, I DO NOT want ads in my notices. I didn't mind the monthly newsletter because I actually looked at it; and then, it disappeared. I don't have the time or patience to hunt it down every month even if I remembered to.

But back to what this article is about. If I wanted the stress balls, I'd either already have them on my wishlist or I would've already bought them even! Maybe I'll buy them just so my husband can use them for target practice with his crossbow....except one problem with that: I am putting money in your pockets that you don't entirely deserve since you are falling behind :devart:.

What I really want:

:bulletblack:for you to fix all the fracking bugs before you make newer versions and updates for the site;

:bulletblack:take care of the porn and other unwanted, policy violating "artwork";

:bulletblack:give subscribers more reasons to continue to subscribe...where are those new perks you promised not to long after last update? Adding more to my front page than non-subscribers isn't that big a new perk...kinda lame actually. Useful but lame;

:bulletblack:quit pampering the idiots. If someone is dumb un-internet saavy enough to know better than to not click that spam link, then let them deal with the consequences...let them get that virus or get their account hacked. And maybe next time they will think better. One of the ways people learn is from their mistakes, NOT being pampered and having their hand held. Babies learn to walk by practice and falling down again and again. Kids learn to ride bikes by falling off. Students learn math by making mistakes and fixing them. Quit pampering the simpletons;

:bulletblack:my list goes on, but at the moment I am too annoyed to recall any of them, but I am sure a few of my readers can think of one of two extra things to truly improve this website.

You are harassing me. PLEASE, knock it off!!! Do your jobs like you are supposed to! :devart: spam is worse than phishing spam because I expect the phishers to spam me, not you.

Well, in spite of the fact that I don't use Corel products, I don't find that offer as SPAM, as it's an offer made specially to dA so subscriber can get a discount on the price (and a lot of people use Corel Products). It's just like a "once in a live" offer (yeah, sure xD).

But the sress balls... I'm not going to say they aren't cute, but it's just merchantdising (or however it spells). That I would call SPAM. It's not something useful that many artist could ever wanted to have... it's just sellable.

But there's something that's true: if you paid for not have ads, and you're still having part of'em, well: SPAM is undesireded ads you can't stop having no matter your will. And you paid for it. So for you and many other that payed for not having more ads, it is SPAM, so I support you.

Have a very nice day.

yep I gotta say I am in total agreement. There are bugs that have been here for soooo long now that haven't been fixed like the fact that I have to shut down firefox and bring up internet exploder to try organize my galleries because it seems that when you move something from the featured area (or put it back in) POOF your Firefox just crashes. Not cool, not fun, and I have reported it and would reaport it more expect they have it up on their list as a "known" bug so you get yelled at if you report it. my thought is that means jack squat if you know about it but won't fix it.

and as for the ads I am with you there too, I heard about the corel thing from like 5 different peoples journals and was annoyed to find it as an ad in my inbox the next day. I mean unless you live under a rock and don't watch anyone you can't help but hearing about that stuff, why must we deal with advertisements of a place we already subscribe to.

That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."
:iconfindmeastorm:
As much as I love dA, I have to agree with some of your points. I have no interest in buying a subscription any more as when I had a subscription, I would still occasionally see ads, and now I get all the things I want - a decent message center, for one - without paying. I found very few truly useful bonuses in a subscription anyway.

As for all the 'news' - have to say, the merchandise I've seen is just so expensive, maybe dA should put some more features into a subscription and market that a little better?

find me a storm where the wild winds blow.
:iconguennol:
A friend very kindly gifted me a sub at the start of this year. My first reaction was 'what's changed?'. Browsing back to 2001 got boring quite quickly and I made a poll. Then I moved a few things round on my user page. As that was about it, I don't intend to buy a subscription now that one's run out.... it's a shame, because getting a sub was a really exciting moment for me, and I was kinda disappointed with the reality of it.

--
Don't try to engage my enthusiasm because I haven't got one.
:iconppgrainbow:
I've been subscribed before...up until last August and I can't even have a last.fm module on my page, because I'm just a regular user. Heck, if I were to get my sub back, I'll probably have to redo the CSS journals. =p

I'm also wishing that there would be more subscription features in the near future. :D

I personally don't think that dA is harassing anyone as they may claim to do so. I do love this site very much, but I do understand the frustration that you're going through. :(
