Women in Art - Part IX
(Photography - Pierced Women)


The many and varied images and themes of women in art.

I wanted to write a personal note here after receiving a number of "this is not art, its porn" comments/notes about the images I have selected in these articles, and in particular the Photography - Pregnant Women article. I would just like to state for the record, that I do not believe that any of the images i have selected thus far, or even in this article, which is the most risque thus far, are porn. The female body, is not porn, it is Art. I love the female form in all her glory, whether it be in pregnancy, fully clothed, nude or however in between. And a beautiful photograph portraying the female form is Art, not porn!!!!

I know this debate is constantly raging on DA and elsewhere in the Art Community, and excuse me for continuing it here, but I am an Art lover, Art is my passion and my most precious friend. And I believe Art is about expression and beauty as well as pushing the boundaries, experimenting, new creation and about birthing ideas and bringing them to life. So for all of you who are scared of female nudity and believe that an image of a nude women, whether it be a digital painting, a traditional drawing, or a photograph is porn, then dont bother looking below, and please dont bother commenting and sending your messages. Because I am not interested in your closed minded, sexist messages of hate.

I am a woman and I am proud of every single aspect of me, my mind, my body, my spirit, my strength, my courage, my will, and none are things to be ashamed of. End of rant...
