This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
We choose photomanipulations that have made an impression on us from the past week. We do not base our choices on preference or friendships and we have never featured ourselves. We simply pick photomanipulations showing creativity, technique and quality at the same time, and are simply eye-catching. As we are also stock artists, we will only feature the works that give proper credits to stock artists.

ArtRage 3 - Watercolours in Digital? Surely Not!

=Flynn-the-cat:iconFlynn-the-cat: reports, 2d 13h ago
ArtRage 3 is finally released! ArtRage is an amazing painting program that acts a LOT like real paint! and the newest version is finally out - and this one has watercolours. And stickers (custom brushes) and is extremely fun and easy to use... and did I mention that the most expensive version is only $80?

Vexelove's Extra Feature

:iconp00pstr34ks:

Who is "p00pstr34ks"? Could you tell us something about you?
"Well, I'm a fun-loving, boring girl from Oregon. In fact, I'm so fun loving that I'm usually getting into some kind of trouble :3 I enjoy doing a plethora of things, mostly involving crafty stuff. I discovered vexeling about 2 years ago and have been doing it off and on ever since."

Why and when did you start appreciating art?
"I started appreciating art at a very young age. I'd say around the time that I was able to hold a pencil. I didn't start dabbling around with digital art though until I discovered vexels.net (Now closed) I saw all of the amazing work on that website and I was hooked. Installed photoshop that same night and went to town."

Do you look up to any artist in particular?
"There are many many artists that I look up to. My favourite, of course, is Cristiano Siqueira. He can be found here: `CrisVector
I admire him moreso than any other artist I've ever known."

How would you describe your art?
"I'm very meticulous about color in my artwork. I spend quite a lot of time getting the right hues, and making sure that they blend well together. I'm also failing at answering this question.

Basically my vexels feature the same thing that a lot of other vexels do. A majority of them are portraits of women, and are usually pleasing to the eye. I know it's cliche, but I never take myself seriously, or vexeling for that matter. It's more of a hobby. I wouldn't even consider myself an artist, really :O"

What do you think differs your art from others?
"The colours, I'd say. Like I said, I spend a hell of a lot of time working with them to get them right. Therefor there's always a nice combination of them. Iunno maybe they're not different at all :o"

What are you currently working on? What can we expect from you in future?
"Honestly? Nothing. I just got my laptop back, and haven't been able to do anything new in a month. I also think I'm going to be taking a long vexeling hiatus, and start to focus on the traditional side of things. I'm going to be practicing human anatomy so I can break away from the chains of vexeling."

What are your 3 favourite deviations from your own gallery and why?
"Oh my lord. This is an evil question ^^"

"When I finished this vexel, I knew then that it would always be my favourite. Everything about it is absolutely perfect. It's the only vexel I've ever felt that way about. It's my vexel-soulmate."

"Another flower. This vexel is incredibly personal. So much emotion was poured into this vexel while I was making it."

"Another very personal vexel. It really is a visual interpretation of the hopelessness I was feeling at the time. Things turned out to be just the opposite, therefor something painful turned into something wonderful. It's very hard to explain, but I love it now."

"I'd just like to add, thanks for the interview. I never really get a whole lot of attention (mostly due to my inactivity) So it's really fantastic when something like this comes along. Thanks so much! :D"

Keep your eyes open for Vexelove's next Selection!
