Introducing =Wings-Of-Fantasy's first ever Deviant Of The Month =kattnboys!





First off, why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a mom of two teen boys. I work as a paraprofessional in a small Christian school. I am a self taught digital artist.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?
A little over a year ago I was in a group on cafemom called fairie fun. I had no clue what a photomanip was..I used psp for making name tags. I had never even heard of stock pictures before. Some of the girls suggested I come and check out DA..I did and well I never looked back, I was hooked from the first day I saw all the incredible things that people could do on a computer, I was determined to learn how to do it!

Is there a story behind your dA username?
=kattnboys is me Katt and my boys my favorite things on the face of this earth.

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?
What I love about DA is the friends Ive made and the help Ive gotten from artists who have helped me so much.
what I don't get about DA is how you can be "popular" for really not having alot of talent...how some amazing artists are ignored.

When did you first start creating Digital Art?
A little over a year ago.

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?
Many things...a pictures pops out at me and I just go from there.

Do you have any favourite tools of the trade?
I use psp XI and PS 7 I have a wacom tablet but seriously i dont use it. I cant seem to get the hang of it

How would you define your Digital Art style?
Fantasy...I love the magic of making digital art...you can turn an ordinary image into a magic place.

Do you create your Digital Art to send a message to people?
I do have a Pink Ribbon project that I create art as a testiment to the courage of Breast cancer survivors and fighters.

What is your favourite piece that you have created?


How long does it usually take you to create an image? Is your thought process the same every time?
The longest part for me is finding the right photos for what I am looking for. Sometimes they come together quickly and I only need a few hours. Other times I pull hair trying to achieve a certain look. I recently learned to paint in details, so I take time to add eye color, skin, hair, that kind of thing.

What advice can you give to aspiring Digital Artists?
Do what feels right...experiment, find what you are good at... color... texture... being creative to please yourself. Don't worry about how many page views you get or s you receive... it's about how it makes your heart feel!

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?
I have eclectic tastes... I love art in general! I love art that speaks to the viewer. I have many favorites here on DA. Many are very well known, some I am shocked are not. One of my very favorites is also

Besides Digital Art, do you have any hobbies?
Football.... I love football.... I cart my kids to 3 seasons of sports. That keeps me very busy. I do find time for a good book though!

Any closing thoughts on art or life in general?
Art is something that comes from with in.. to create is to leave a bit of your soul on the canvas. Don't just stick a lady in black on a foggy ledge because it might be popular.. follow your creative path!
