What's the contest about?
A lot of people know Travis / ^
PurpelBlur /
And if you don't.... well, add him to your watchlist. He's really a nice person to talk to!
Any way, back to the point:
^
PurpelBlur is one of those persons who is the soul of the community, always present, promoting art and helping people and causes.
Never is he lazy . Is there a contest? He'll often donate something and/or pimp it up in his journal. Is the GM inactive (personal reasons) and due to that there are no DD's? No worries: ^
PurpelBlur is here! (
for every gallery!)
Do you have a request to the community such as the news article:
Request of a Cancer Victim ? ^
PurpelBlur would be honoured to help you out!
And we could make pages and pages and eventually a whole book for what ^
PurpelBlur does for community. DeviantART wouldn't be this great without him.
He's just 1 member, like you and me, but is there for every gallery. 1 person, so much work.
To show our appreciation and respect for everything he does, we're holding a small yet fun contest!
So, what's the idea?
You have to make an art work and submit it as a print on dA, A3 format with 300 dpi could be any style: vector, photography, text art, traditional art etc. Doesn't matter, as long as it is A3, 300 dpi and something to do with ^
PurpelBlur or the colour
purpel.
`
cybergranny will buy the winning entry as a print (so you'll get money as well) and send it to ^
PurpelBlur .
FAQ
Where can I see the entries?- You can see the entries right here:
[link]If your entry follows the rules, `
cybergranny will add your entry to this fav gallery.
How do I note
with my entry?- Go to her profile by clicking on her icon/avatar/the pink emote with the tongue in this question. When you did that you can see on the right side next to her pageviews: ''send a note''. Click on that. Subject: contest entry and give a thumb or a link to your entry.
How do I submit a print?Every print on Deviant Art must be associated with a deviation. Your Associated Deviation will have a link to a page where users can buy this print.
You can associate prints with existing deviations by clicking the "Make Print" link on deviation pages, or by clicking "Submit Print" in the deviantART logo drop-down menu, which can be found in the upper left beside your username. Once on that page, select the deviation which you would like to upload or update a print for and click "Continue."
Can I submit a poem/emote etc.?- Yes, but it has to be on A3... An emote is very small, so you have to make it huge!
As for poetry: please submit your poem with a nice background with an A3 format in Categories Literature > Poetry > Visual Poetry
You can use Literature Templates! Here's a tutorial explaining you how:

A BIG THANK TO =psivamp for the cute avatar she made me :grope:
The size is a very large resolution for photography. It's going to exclude a great many photographers, since many professional digital cameras don't even shoot at resolution this high. My own digital camera, which is fairly high-end, is 12.7 megapixels, and my maximum resolution is still 2912 x4368, or just under 10x15, where you're asking for a bit over 11x16. It's not a lot less, but still smaller, and many people have 10 megapixels or less, which is further from the required size.
As reference, I've had my photos printed up to 2x4 FEET, and they look great, but this is not at 300dpi. dA allows print submissions to be 150-300dpi, which allows for the required print size, at excellent quality (IF you start with a well shot image to begin with) and this can give the required size for a photo print.
Just a thought - so you're aware - that most photography submissions from the community won't be able to meet the criteria, even though the contest accepts photography deviations. Or, if you accept a photo "collage" of two or more frames submitted as one file, that would be a way a lot more photographers would be able to enter.
Or, it might be nice to have slightly different size requirements for some of the different galleries, based upon medium.
I probably wouldn't be entering myself, not because it's not a great idea, but since it has to be a new submission and I have too many projects going to schedule another shoot for this purpose right now. But, that doesn't mean that other photographers might not like to enter if the requirements permitted.
