Hello everyone, & welcome to another edition of Mini-DDs! The set of featured DD-worthy artwork that Salvador Dali himself endorses!...You know, after we brought him back from the dead to do so. Turns out he had this odd taste for brains, apparently...
Anyhow, as some of you may have noticed, this is OC Appreciation Month here at DA, a little something thought up by *
Genaleah. Definitely a great idea in my opinion, as this site is just
swarming with with a countless amount of creative & amazing original characters that easily deserve all the attention & praise they can get. So for encouraging people to pay tribute to all sorts of astonishing creations, I bestow this upon Genaleah:

The Golden Jark Award, my own personal symbol celebrating those who have a lot of community spirit & do a lot of work to support those on DA as well. An extremely true honor indeed...& it has a
dark chocolate center! With little bits of peppermint & cookie bits mixed in as well, just for kicks!
Now, as a
huge fan of OCs myself, I really want to partake in this month of merriment myself...Unfortunately, since my drawing skills still aren't good enough to properly pay tribute to the awesome characters I've seen & fell in love with, I was thinking of honoring said characters via these Mini-DDs.
Now, featuring a large amount of Deviations with amazing OCs would be the obvious route to go...Sadly, we
already used up that idea for part of our
Vol. 100 Special. Dang.
Well, so without that on the table anymore (at least for now), it's time to turn to all of you for help.
Do you have any suggestions about what we can do here for OC Appreciation Month? Any ideas about special events we can do for this whole shebang - Or hell, even just suggestions for kickass OCs to feature - Would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Alright now, seeing as how we actually already have some sweet OCs in this week's crop of features, what say we just get on with the main event already?
Okay, so if you don't know by now, the featured artists here each receive the Golden Fefcaine Award:

...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And some bits of shortcake & peanut butter thrown into the mix this week as wel, just for fun!
Oh, & feel free to check out the Mini-DD Archive afterwards right here:
[link]Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...

Truly some scrumptious work here...With
ACE OF HEARTS, ~
shelde5000 takes a concept for a playing card design & spikes it with his own twist on a classic piece of metal, his own rich, psychotic, & unique style, several blasts of an offbeat, contrasting, & refreshing pink & blue color scheme, & an astonishing amount of freakish detail right down to the smallest morsel of gluttony. It's a wicked card interpretation that's completely whacked-out, completely creative, & a complete feast for the eyes! You'd have to pretty much be brain-damaged to pass up on this stellar cartoon! Bravo!
RAAAGE by *
loppi...Now this is a Deviation that's quite dark (in several instances of the word), & oh, how that works so damn nicely here! The cool & kickass character design, the menacing expression & pose, every wicked detail down to the smallest stitch & splatter of blood, & the lovely & attractive style pulling it all off...The darkness here conceals it all oh so slightly with a great use of purplish colors, making for one striking & macabre piece of work that really just seems like it's ready to leap out at you! Awesome stuff, loppi, & keep it coming!

Ahh, there's nothing like a lovably surreal t-shirt design to brighten one's day...&
mmmmoooaa by ~
ndikol definitely takes care of that need! A fun & unique concept, an attractive & cartoonish style, some nice & twisted little designs backed up with an eye-pleasing color scheme & patterns...Basically, if trees could go on killing sprees, I think they'd find that this would be one t-shirt worth killing for. Well, okay, they couldn't actually
wear the shirt...And it doesn't make much sense why they'd want a shirt in the first place...Look, you see where I'm going here, right? Just fave the sweet pic already!

*
suzidragonlady's gallery is one filled to the brim with impressive delights, &
Black and White Fatale just one of them that easily deserves the spotlight! The were-orca itself is already a neat & unique concept, & here suzi definitely does it justice thanks to a rich & amazing style with some great coloring, a perfectly captured feeling of ferocity, one wicked pose, & some nice & cool detail details down to the light shining off the muscular body (which deliciously goes against the "norm" of female anthros). All in all, it's one amazing anthro drawing which definitely deserves your attention!

~
Epsilog does a twisty take on a cool character design with
Lollipopz, & the end result is definitely 100% win! The sweet & surreal style & atmosphere, the nice & bright colors in contrast with the darker character, the lovely details right down to the background textures, & the way the curvaciousness of everything creates a cool & cartoonish feeling to it all...It just makes for one truly mesmerizing Deviation that's nearly impossible to resist. Let's just say the Ringmaster helped put on one damn good show here!

Are you a fan of distorted, Escher-esque worlds with a deliciously macabre yet cartoonish twist? Well, here's a shocker: If you are a fan, then ~
TheBalloonMan gives you just what you need in the form of
DRAMA! With a nicely odd & unique concept, an incredible, fresh, & dark style, several sweet details down to wear on the concrete, & the offbeat, simple, & charming little star of the show surrounded by all those lovably eerie & haunting little doggies...It all just seems to paint this amazing, almost tragic yet enjoyable story I just want more of...But this gem alone is still worth your affection, so fave it already (or the dogs will haunt you forever)!

Dammit, why are the best holiday Deviations always found
after the holiday has passed?? Frustration aside, even without the holiday theme,
Widdershins's Valentine by =
andrea-koupal is a truly lovable piece of work, starring an incredibly creative & charming character done in Andrea's own equally charming & luscious style, topped off with a sweet little backstory & the perfect details & colors that really highlight the little guy's mischievous personality. Needless to stay, this is one unbelievably sweet Deviation that you just have to love, no matter what time of the year it is!

Egad, how is it possible that I've gone so long without noticing ~
wildragon's gallery of fantasy delights? And drawings such as
Je te ramene a la niche which so excellently feature creative, cool, & kooky character designs, an eye-catching style with some nice & thick lineart, perfectly gritty & "worn-out" colors & textures, & a nice little sense of humor? How could I have possibly been blind to something as freakish & awesome as a crazed mothgirl? Man, my eyesight must be going...So don't make the same mistakes I did, fave this baby already, & check out the rest of this talented artist's work!

~
imadawwas' gallery is chock full of several refreshingly unique & sweet Deviations, but
Howdoyoudo MissDeer? just seemed to stand out the most. Maybe it's the little blasts of nature nicely mixed in with the lush & surreal atmosphere, maybe it's the eye-catching & unique mix of colors, maybe it's the impressive details & textures in every corner, maybe it's the lovably odd & almost illusion-like feeling scattered throughout it all...Actually, it doesn't matter what attracted me the most, because the end result is still a trippy little gem no matter what! So make sure to take a peek at this impressive little beauty!
...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week, & I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
