STOP! THAT IS A SIN, SINNER!

Now, hold on a second. What is that last statement for? It is how some Christians react to homosexuality: with unnecessary extremity. We see this issue come up a lot, Christians verses homosexuality. It comes up a lot due to issues that ban it, allow it, and states where it is debated. This even was an issue with the presidential election. But the problem is very much that Christians stop and point.

Let me (quoting Paul the apostle) give a very blunt statement to those Christians who stop and point blindly. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Now, I'm sure that Christians may have heard of this passage. If not, then let me explain it as clearly as possible. Don't point fingers.
"For all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God." That means we all have done something that's not good. Even pointing fingers.

What's really disappointing about this, as a fellow Christian, is hearing one of my unsaved friends telling me that her "Christian" mother, grandmother, and other relatives telling her that she will go to hell because of her sexuality. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your family." That did not have any exceptions, that meant that everyone, who has sinned at all, any sin, if they repent, and lean on Christ, and accept the Holy Spirit into their lives, then they are saved. Recently, the Christian music artist who wrote the Easter song "Watch the Lamb" has come out of the closet about his sexuality. Does this mean that he's less of a Christian than my father, who is straight? No! We all have sinned, we all failed, we all have done something. The only way to be human, yet holy enough to go to heaven, is to be God, which we are not! Christ was. He lived a perfect, holy life, so that those of us who trip over the law set in the Old Testament of the Bible can have freedom. However, this does not mean we escape our responsibilities. We need to set the example. We are to "not comform to the pattern of this world, but be renewed in the mind."

In other words, yes, homosexuality is a sin, but that alone will not send a person to hell. Not believing is what will.
