This contest is about recipes and memories. Id like to see a real, tested-by-you recipe (if borrowed or handed down, please give appropriate credit to the chef, but you must have either tasted it or prepared it yourself) and a piece of creative non-fiction describing a memory or experience relating to preparing or eating the recipe or its key ingredient.
A month is left for posting an entry in this Winter Contest. But...It's Christmas and we're all most generous so, take a look! We have more than 6 prizes for every winner! :3 Enjoy!
Darksiders: Your Last Days Contest - Create a piece of artwork in any visual medium depicting a creative and personal interpretation of the last days of Earth during an ‘apocalypse’ and earn a chance to win amazing prizes!

A lot of people who create art are interested in art in general and its history. However lots of people on deviant do not know much about the history of art (not only digital but also traditional) and I am one of them. So after some chat sessions with lots of people on deviant I decided to start an Art History Project on deviant, main goal of the project is to learn about the history of art.
The way to do this will be :
1: monthly news item and/or journal about a specific art movement 2: monthly contest about a specific art movement
The first item will be created by myself, although interesting information about the theme is welcome to give a complete view. In a month i will be studying the art movement of the month so I can write an interesting journal/news item about it for all interested people on deviant.
The second item is the contest which can be entered by all deviants. The winner will be picked by myself or a voting system (not sure yet how I get the most honest way of selecting a winner). Of course the deviation much has the monthly art movement as theme. And to create a good work you have to search for information about the art movement theme so you can learn more about it! Interested isn't it?
So the idea is simple and let's just give it a try with this month's first art movement:
POP-ART
- The contest can be entered by all deviants and must have POPART as theme. - Deadline will be 1st of April 2009 - Only 1 entry per deviant is allowed - Best 10 entries will be added to the monthly news/journal item - Entries can be submitted by sending me a note with the following subject: ' POPART contest ' and with the thumb of the entry in it.
Suggestions, questions, help or whatever information you want to share are welcome!
Hm, sounds interesting! Can I ask you to please reply this comment with something like POP-ART contest? So I can keep that comment and gets reminded of the contest. (I'm watching over 100 people already, so that's not really an option).
DeviantART is counting down to its 100 millionth deviation! Join in on the fun and take a look back at some of the most noteworthy deviations we've seen along the way. The deviant who uploads the 100 millionth deviation could win a special prize, too. Hurry, we're going to hit the 100 million mark soon!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
