Short Intro to the deviantART Chatrooms.
Where to find the Chats.
Just like for the Forums, all you have to do to access the chatrooms page is clicking the link
Chat that you'll find on the top of deviantART pages (if you customized your "More" menu, you'll have to click on "More" and you'll find a link to the Chat in the Spotlight category). You'll be brought to a page with a list of Chatroom, on the top of it you'll see the
Featured Chatrooms, in the middle
Your Chatrooms (if you created any) and in the bottom you'll have a search engine that will help you finding chatrooms you might be interested in. You'll simply have to click on one of those links to enter them and start chatting!
Featured Chatrooms
Every month the MN@ team will review some chatrooms. The chatrooms that will impress the most the MN@, for the way they're run and for the help that they provide, will be featured in that list. If you feel like suggesting a chatroom to be featured send a note to $

Some Rules.
Rules are everywhere on dA, but it's for your own good really. There are some general rules applying to all the chatrooms and some that focus only on the Official rooms. As they're well explained I recommend you to check the following FAQs to get an idea of these rules:
Basic chat commands.
While you can simply enter a room by clicking on of the link in the ~
chat page and start writing and chatting up easily, there are a few commands that might make your chat experience easier and more pleasant. We'll just check the ones you'll need the most, but you can find a complete list of the commands that can be used in dAmn in the
FAQ #292: What are the commands that I can use on the chat network?
How to let someone know you're talking to them.
Writing the username of someone will make that line highlighted for that person, so that they'll know the message is directed to them. This isn't properly a command, but it's something you have to learn in order to make people understand that you're talking to them. Don't worry about the length of the username, you won't have to type it, you'll just have to write the first letters of it and use the tab key of your keyboard (the one over the capslock key) to auto complete it.
The /join command.
Have you ever wondered how does some people manage to be in multiple rooms with only one connection open? Those persons simply know how to use the
/join command. Using it will make you join a chatroom opening a new tab on dAmn and not by opening a new browser's window. This means that you can be in different chat at the same time without using multiple connections and getting in troubles cause of it. How does it work? It's easy! Simply write the command followed by the room name:
ie:
/join #devart
The /part command.
This command is the opposite of the /join, you'll need to use
/part when you want to leave a room. In alternative you can click on the white X with the squarish red background that's in the chatroom's tab. As for how to use it, it works exactly like the /join command, you just have to write /part followed by the name of the chatroom you want to leave:
ie:
/part #devart
The /me command.
Another really used command is the
/me, as it's the one that allows you to do "actions". Each time you see someone writing something like
* Little-Vampire is chewing gummy bears is cause the person is using the
/me command like this:
/me is chewing gummy bears
The /whois command.
This one is a special command that will allow you to see if someone is online and in what room the person it is! It can be really helpful if you want to find your friends. To use it you'll simply have to write
/whois followed by the username of the person:
ie:
/whois Little-VampirePlease note that when you write this command a box with the info about the user you're looking for will appear in the chatroom where you're chatting. No one but you will see it, so don't worry about using that command!
If the person you're looking for isn't on dAmn (or if you misspel the username) you'll get this error "get error: *username* (bad namespace)" (where *username* is the username of the person you searched)
The Official chatrooms.
#devart.
This is the Official chatroom for chatting, yeah a chatroom where everybody can chat! One of the best place where to find crazy people. If you're bored and feel like chatting give a try to #devart and you might get addicted to it! You will find people of all kind of ages (though don't ask or share your age in there! Read
devSAFE for more info about it) and from different part or the world.
#help.
#help is the official deviantART room where to receive real time assistance with deviantART and dAmn features and issues. Please note that most of the time the assistance is provided by volunteers (helpers and MN@ team members) that are not allowed to help with:
subscription issues
policy issues
ban issues
print issues
devWEAR issues
adCast issues
If you need help please always refer to the thread
Where to get Help on deviantART.
#MNAdmin.
This is the official chatroom on dAmn for reporting any dAmn related issues. If you're having issue with dAmn, if you find a forum thread that needs to be locked, if you want to report a user breaking a rule in #devart then you're in the right place! For help with deviantART please use #help, as #MNAdmin is only for getting assisted by MN@ operators. Please note that if you just want to chat then you should use #devart and not #MNAdmin. MN@ Operators are in there to assist users and not to chat with them.

If you want to report something and there's no MN@ available you can send them a message using @
MNBot's command
`note send username message like this:
`note send Little-Vampire Can you please lock this thread: [link]. Thanks. OMG I got banned!
#devart ban.
Getting banned from #devart means you won't be able to enter that chatroom for some time. How do you find out how long the ban is and what's the reason of it? Simple, you'll just have to read the note that the MN@ will send you. It'll contain all the info about the ban and for how long it'll be. If you need further information about the ban don't reply to that note, but contact the
Help Desk (Chat Inquiries).
dAmn ban.
Just like for the #devart ban you will receive a note for this kind of ban too, with the lenght and reason of the ban, though this time the ban will not only stop you from joining #devart, but it won't let you use the chatroom system at all. For this kind of ban too, if you need further info about the reason why you got banned, you should contact the
Help Desk (Chat Inquiries).
This is more or less all you need to know for chatting in dAmn. If you want to be always uptodate with dAmn info be sure to check the News in the
Chat/MN@ section of the News!
