Disclaimer: this originated as a journal entry, but I'd like to draw attention to my watchers on a wider scale. I hope you'll appreciate this message for what it is.

I'm a bit selfish when I'm on DA I must admit. In real life I'm in the helping education/profession and I live a lifestyle that requires me to give give and give. Which is nice when people appreciate what you do and sometimes even when they don't... but it's very hard when you get paired up with people who take take take. I've had to exclude some people from my life in the past few years because they take take take even when I have nothing left to give.

That being said, I take from deviantART. I come online and despite my best intentions I revel in the comments and the favs and watches. I adore the attention, the criticism, the praise, and the compliments. When I come on DA YOU watchers make me feel like a somebody. YOU notice the little victories I'm making even when I'm too self absorbed to notice them myself! YOU call me out on my shortcomings and encourage me to work harder (in a nice way). You're the ones giving me tips on life and art, listening to me when I don't feel listened to, and understanding me even when I don't understand myself.

I don't do enough to show my appreciation- and I hope you all realize it's not for lack of intention or trying. To be honest, I'm a bucket full of water - people come to drink from me until there's nothing left. You guys and gals- are the well where I fill up again. Though I may not always respond or thank-you the goodness you siphon my way fills me up and helps me fill up other people. You make me feel good about myself and whole so that I can go out and do it for others in the real world.

Expressing my feelings and life through my art is about as vulnerable as anyone can get but especially for someone who has to be so guarded in order to keep her focus I appreciate the opportunity to even just share with you. I've solved many of my problems through the growth I've gained through the art pieces and projects that are here on DA. You may not have been holding the camera or guiding my paint brush but my works are every bit a collaborative work with you because of the positive influence you all have on me.

Though I'm critical of aspects of deviantART I enjoy the community I've enveloped myself in here as well as the greater community of the site. I have made life long friends here and accomplished things I have only dreamed about. I have grown up, I have loved and lost, I've endured, and I have changed.

Thanks for being a part of my life, and thanks for the support of my art... but mainly for the support of me. You're all wonderful people and your numbers have grown and grown! I appreciate you, and I appreciate what you do for me.

These sorts of things are what make a real community, and through all my grievances I wouldn't trade what I have on DA for the world.
