I figured that since the devious interviews pretty much died when five and i stopped doing them, that it was time to bring them back to life again.. with me doing an interview of everyone's favorite fourteen year old.. five!
Sometimes it's hard being the youngest kid on the block, and i can see that everytime david is met with hatred and ignorance in this community, now maybe looking into a little of what he has in store for the world will change your views on him. i know that there's controversy surrounding the ever elusive "five" but in the end, he's an asset to this community, overlooked, but an asset none the less.
liquify: mind you i'm serious but my sarcasm seeps through so bear with me lol. oyeh, should i call you five or do you have a name? (since you never told me it.)
five: You can call me five, David, Dave, cinqo, Roy, I don't care
liquify: ooh your name's david? leet ass.
liquify: no preference?
liquify: you call me jenny and i will farking keel j00.
five: Either Five or David is prefered, it's up to you.
liquify: okay.
liquify: well i like names so david it is.
five: ok
liquify: okay before we start there's a few things that need to be said so that anyone reading this understands that i didn't have you tied down to a chair with a gun to your head. i am going to ask you things, obviously, since this is an interview, but you do not have to answer every question. think of this like the game show family fued, you can pass if you don't have an answer to something.
liquify: is there anything you want to ask me before we get this thing rolling?
five: I can't think of a thing.
liquify: all right.
liquify: you've made quite an impression on this community over the months that you've been a member, if you could describe how you'd like us to see you in one sentence, what would you say?
five: A friendly person who's willing to help. Yeah, that sounds good
liquify: in all honesty, how do you think this community views you and does it coincide with what you'd like us to see?
five: I think it depends on who you talk to. Generally speaking, I'd say the community does like me (70%-30% like/don't like), though I'd hardly consider myself to be well-loved. I'm a bit disapointed about that, but some people's views of me are well-founded. Does it coincide? With those who like me, yes. With those who don't, no.
liquify: well, to the people who don't like you, what would you say if faced with them all at once?
five: "I'm sorry that you feel this way about me, and I think you'd realize that if you got to know me I'm not a bad guy".
liquify: people will always see only what they allow themselves to see, that's something that's been plaguing us for a long time, but i myself held a past grudge against you for months and i saw past it, do you think that eventually everyone else will, too? (with the exception of a few enemies, everyone has those.)
five: Well trendwhore and I were in a huge fued a while back, and him and me have become good friends. I'd like to say I hope most of those who've held a grudge against me will look past it, but I don't think it'll be something that will happen overnight, or even in the next few months. It'll take a while, if it ever happens.
liquify: what do you feel that you add to this community?
five: Youth

And with that has come problems...All in all I'd hope that I've helped add a sense of community to deviantART, and I think that over the past three or four months it's been closer to a utopia than ever.
liquify: i've been hearing things about something else you've been pouring your youth and sense of community into.. care talk a little about opinionhated?
five: Opinionhated is basically a website where people are encouraged to discuss the world around them. No topics are off-limit, as the site's theme is free speech. We're trying to give it both a debate-like and a friendly atmosphere, and I feel the staff that are working hard on the project are the perfect people to do it.
liquify: if no topics are off-limits, how do you expect to maintain control over the members of opnionhated?
five: There are certain rules. For example, you can question someone's religion, but you can't call them stupid because of what they think. We're not attacking people, we're questioning ideas and beliefs. It's the same thing as being able to, and wanting to, shake hands with a person who you've just fought against. That way I believe members of the community will develop a respect for one another, no matter what the individual believes.
liquify: i can see how that would make things relatively peaceful. when do you think opinionhated will be ready for the public?
five: We're really unsure right now. We don't want to rush things, and we plan to launch when we're ready. We hope to be open before July 1st.
liquify: who else is working on opinionhated with you?
five: We have hellbent, a coder, starvingartist, who is designing the layout, and dspayre, himynameiznate, and thelambofgod, who are all staff writers. Every staff is an admin
liquify: that's quite a selection of people for your staff, how did you come to decide on each of them, or did they approach you?
five: I went out looking for everyone but the coder. I had no doubt in my mind that I wanted a layout designed by Stanley (starvingartist). For the writers, I really didn't need to be told who to pick. All the writers are guys who I knew before I formed opinionhated, and who I know where amazing debaters. Lamb is a brilliant political debater, both through words and through his art (as witnessed by artpolitic.org), himynameiznate is a fantastic debater on the topic of religion, and dspayre is just plain good in general

. They're all good in every topic, but they each are unbeatable in the ones they are known for.
liquify: do you think that in the future you will be looking for more writers and administrators? if your site is as successful as i know you'd like it to be, it's going to be an awful lot of work for the handful of you.
five: In the distant future, I'm sure I could use more admins, but I know that when these guys (including myself) are dedicated to something, they are very dedicated to something. Oh, and one quick thing: we will have no banner ads or pop-ups, ever. That's a promise you can take my word on right now.
liquify: that's quite a thing to promise considering all of the fees that come along with running a site of any kind of magnitude, but i'll take your word for it, david.
five: I have a great host, and I'll spend all my allowance (quit laughing at me) on it if I have to.
liquify: you mentioned something to me about cafe-house before we started this, what was it that you wanted to say?
five: Well as people listen to me preaching about opinionhated, they'll probably get to thinking about cafe-house. Cafe-house is really quite a similar idea. They both went into developement at around the same time last year, but I took a break from working on opinionhated for about 3 or so months, will work on cafe-house went on. They launched before us, and we don't want people to think we ripped them off. In fact, I like the folks on cafe-house, especially that xshock fellow.
liquify: lol nice little hint there. do you think that eventually your two sites will merge together in some fashion?
liquify: not as one site, but as a community of forums so to speak.
five: Perhaps. I've yet to discuss that with cafe-house though, and I think that will be a long time away if it ever does come to pass
liquify: maybe now that the seed of an idea has been planted that long time will be a little shorter. (;
five: Maybe so
liquify: i'm about to wrap things up with one last question but before i do, is there anything i've missed that you'd like deviantart to know?
five: I don't know if there's anything I know that deviantART
doesn't.

Nope, I think that's it.
liquify: well, as a closing question. where do you see yourself four years from now, when you're of legal age to do things in the united states that you're probably already doing up there in "canadia"?
five: What, you mean eat snow?

Hmm...well in four years from now I'll either be starting college or university, or I'll take a year off and I may pursure photojournalism by travelling the world a bit.
liquify: i wish you luck in your endeavors, david. i really do. thanks for being such a good sport about all of this. (:
five: No problem, thanks for interviewing me
liquify: weeeeeeee now i get to format that. ayuh.
addendum:
five: MY NAME IS DAVID TOPPING AND I AM 14 YEARS OLD. I LIKE SPACE SHIPS AND TRUCKS AND ONE DAY I WANT TO BE A FARMER AND OWN A FARM AND THEN I CAN HAVE A PET CHICKEN
fin.
