I'm a child of Autumn. Spring is nice and all, but I've honestly never had much use for it. To me, Springtime is just a reminder that the blazing-hot Texas summer is fast approaching. Autumn, by contrast, brings genuine relief.

That, and Easter. My least favorite holiday. I'm not talking about the religious significance; that's all wonderful and appropriate. I'm talking about the overly cheerful, cute and fuzzy, bright and sunny, pastel-colored nightmare that we must endure every April, at least here in the USA. It disturbs me.

CONTEST

So, out of sheer defiance, I'm sponsoring an "Easterween" Poetry and Prose Competition, something to turn the Easter Bunny on his ears and provide the annual Cadbury infestation with a much-needed kick in the eggs. Show me an interesting take on the holiday in any written form you choose. The entries can be gentle and spiritual, unsettling and horrific, hiliarious, bizarre, or something that defies description. All I ask is that you show me a different side of the holiday than the Hallmark version.
