deviantART's Community Relations Team provides a unique collective effort that seeks to create and sustain collaborative relationships among deviants and to develop innovative opportunities within the global art industry. These relationships are meant to provide and encourage opportunities to foster creative genius. The CR Team acts as a window of information for the community on how to utilize deviantART in a way that will empower and enable themselves as respected and successful artists.

Our ultimate vision is a community of artists that come together unified and strengthened by sharing the belief that they hold the artistic power to create and shape their own success. In order to realize our vision, our mission must be to exceed the expectations of our community, whom we view as partners, and we will accomplish this by committing to our shared core values. 1. Goodbyes

Every person that comes into Community Relations, enhances and touches the community in a positive way during their time - and they should be celebrated for their efforts and love for the community.

2. Communication

$chix0r and I have been steadily trying to work towards a goal of increased communication and transparency. However, the concept of open communication seems, at times, to be viewed as a one way street.

The frustration here, is that it can seem (from our side of the fence) that we're expected to provide full-disclosure and in return, we're lucky if you give us the time of day? It can be expected that we'll be blasted because we obviously can't make everyone happy. It's possible there will be angry journals, petitions and the quintessential "OMG I AM LEAVING!" journals. Sometimes, all of this comes from a grave misunderstanding and it's resolved on our part as soon as we're aware. However, the process of us learning about these issues is ridiculously complicated. The volunteers spot an angry journal, there's a chain of petition notes, someone posts something on an outside blog... really is it that hard to just.. talk to us? $chix0r and I work really hard to try and find a happy balance and preserve this community we love. Not everyone loves us, and that's fine but if you care about deviantART, we need your help. We need you to talk to us when you have an issue and that doesn't mean sending a screaming note in our direction. We need to open the gates of respectful communication going both ways. We want to help but we need to be made aware of the problem. We are not perfect, we will make mistakes and when made aware, will do everything in our power to correct those. We can be reached by notes, email (moonbeam13@deviantart.com & chix0r@deviantart.com) and if we're really that scary, the gallery moderators and MN@ can be approached to be your link to us if you need. It takes every one of us, from administration to the newest members, to sustain, improve and grow this incredible community we've built. $chix0r and I are committed to that goal - are you? 3. How can I become a Gallery Moderator and what areas are open?

4. I have an idea for deviantART!! What do I do with it??

I love the deviantART suggestions gallery and I favorite and collect from there, as does $spyed and various other administrators that regularly swarm the gallery. This is the best place to put your ideas and suggestions, especially if you have mockups (which we love btw). You can also post to the Suggestions Forum

5. My DD suggestions are never selected/the gallery I want to suggest a DD for has no moderator/there is a huge conspiracy!!!

First, they me start by saying tin foil hats are not required. The volunteers/staff receive a great many notes a day and it can take time for them to get to your suggestions. On top of that, there's no guarantee they're going to agree with your choices but that doesn't mean you don't have other options. If you check out the list in FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?, you will see several people who select DD's from all galleries and they can be another resource for you (including myself). The reasoning for giving DD privileges to other staff members as well as Volunteer Senior MN@ was to priovide more coverage of our growing community. We want to feature great art and cover as many areas as possible, so send in your suggestions.

Please note that ^orangefruits has been kind enough to offer to watch over the "Fashion Photography" Gallery, so you can send those DD suggestions to him as well

6. I found miscats/violations and sent notes to the Gallery Moderator or you! Why are they still there???

Please use the report violation buttons to report policy and copyright violations. There has been a steady increase in notes to myself and my volunteers, from people reporting issues that should be going to the CEA team. It's not that we don't want to help you but firstly, the volunteers are not primarily responsible for moving miscats, nor can they respond to policy violations. These duties fall under our CEA team and should be going through the necessary channels via the tools we have made available to you.
