The whole point of this contest is to get away from the sexual implications that run rampant in artistic nudes. I don't have a problem with sexy...or sex...or sexual themes...or sex in art...sex is great whether or not I partake in it the way you sick people do (you know who you are, you dirty monkeys) ...but still. There is a lot of gratuitous nudity in the Artistic Nudes gallery, there is a lot of gratuitous sexuality in all of the photography galleries actually...so let's shy away from that just this once.

This is about the human body as ART, amazing concept right? But seriously, this isn't about sex or being sexy, this is about the human body being just that...a body. Nudity isn't sexual, people make it that way. I want nudity to be strictly artistic in this contest...it's not that sexuality cannot be artistic (just to reiterate), but you know, blah blah blah.

So here it is, I am trying to make this as plain as possible but if there is anything anyone doesn't understand...don't hesitate to ask! If you misunderstand something and don't bother asking, I won't hesitate to disqualify you! now that we all know that bit...let's move on:

Your image must include a human model, a human...not a doll. I know that seems obvious...but there are some crazy creative types out there and I just want to stress the importance of using a living human being for your entry You can use more than one model, male or female, as long as there is at least one human being that is the focal point of your image.

The focal point of your image must be fully nude, partially nude, or you can use the art of implication...I don't care...as long as it is some form of nudity. Partial nude does not include a belly button, a leg or arm, or anything obvious and stupid like that. Partial nudity means that you still had to put a mature content tag on it. I don't just want you to hang a breast out and call it partial nudity...but hey, it's a great example of what partial nudity is. Don't lift up your shirt and call it partial nudity, don't dance around in your underwear and call it partial nudity...in this contest, for this definition of partial nudity, I need to see some private parts....genitals, buttocks, or breasts (female) or it doesn't count as nudity.
If you are doing partial nudity for your entry, do not put it in the artistic nudes category or the entry will not be accepted until the image moves to the proper gallery.

You can take a picture of a model, you can have a photographer take a picture of you, you can take a picture of yourself...as long as you follow the rules of the contest and the rules of deviantART in regards to your entry I don't care who takes the picture or who models in it as long as the work is YOUR OWN. You have to be either photographer, model, or both.

Only NEW entries for this particular contest please. I will accept anything created between the dates of March 11th to April 18th (the end of the contest). The contest starts today, but if you took an awesome picture last week that would just be perfect...go ahead and enter. As long as it was posted after March 11th.

The contest will be judged on stuff like composition, quality (yes, sorry...no cell phone pictures ), color/contrast, pose/technique/expression, overall aesthetics. Composition is what it is, you know what it is, you know how it works to make things looks awesome or look like crap...if your image has good composition, then it's a good thing. Quality does not mean that you cannot use a 'crappy camera' to create an image. [link] This picture was taken with a simple point and shoot digital camera. Nothing special or fancy, no neat lens or settings or anything like that....just candle light and a tripod. So don't tell me that you can't take a good quality image with your camera and that I won't let you enter or blah blah...just take a picture and enter it, if it doesn't win it doesn't win. Color and contrast is what it is...it doesn't matter if your image is color or black and white. Pose/technique/expression, what is your model doing? What story does the image tell? How does it convey the artistry of the human form? It doesn't matter what your model looks like, but it does matter what they are doing, it does matter whether or not their face appears to have emotion or if it is flat and simply not interesting to look at. Models are actors for still pictures, so have your model act. Overall aesthetics is what it is as well...how does your picture look overall. Just because your composition sucks a little doesn't automatically mean the whole image does. All of the judges might have different ideas about what defines these things as great or terrible.

You can do full nudity, partial nudity, or implied nudity. If using more than one model, at least one has to be nude/partially nude/implied nude.
You have to use a human model male or female. You may use more than one.
You can be the photographer, the model, or the photographer/model as long as you took the picture or are in it...you cannot enter it if you were the make-up artist, fashion designer, etc.
Entries posted after March 11th will be accepted, nothing earlier.
Follow the rules of deviantART in your entry.
Judging based on Composition, Quality, Color/Contrast, Pose/Technique/Expression, Overall Aesthetics.
Put your entry in the right category or it will not be accepted (no models wearing clothing in the artistic nudes gallery).

No portraits...this is about the artistry of the human form, that means the whole form...not the form from the chest up.
