Welcome to this week’s volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 24th volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.

Featured Emoticons:

I am always impressed when emoticonists include on difficult effect in an emoticon, and even more so when multiple ones are included, and pixelled to such a high standard. This is the case in :petroltrap: by =Kermodog. The pixelling of the petrol, pipe and explosion are all done extremely well, an the perfect timing of the emoticon allows for maximum comedy effect. The shading and expressions are also excellent, making this an all round brilliant emoticon.

Its easy to see why Super fart by =Droneguard has been selected as a featured emote this week. The pixelling throughout is absolutely amazing and the idea is both unique and amusing to watch. The shading and special effects have been done very well and I suggest you watch it a few times over to take it all in

There’s something about :rabies: by =PoisonTouch which makes it rather addictive to watch. The emoticon has been nicely put together with a smooth transition between emotes and a great colour change. The expressions used are brilliant and really enhance the emoticon as a whole, making it a must see emote from this week.

4.
With spring in the air, I feel that :allergy: by ~sensei-pao is a perfect emoticon to represent the change in seasons. The pixelling of the flowers is minimal, but all that is needed for the emoticon and the idea is quite cute. Overall it’s a nice little emoticon and I look forward to seeing what the emoticonist creates next.

5.
Something’s Afoot by =TibodinJay is a cute idea based on the fact that emoticons do need feet on occasions. The idea is well displayed and the transition between feet and no feet is nicely created. The way the hands move when walking over the water really rather amuses me, which gains this emoticon the last featured slot.

Emotication

I know in the past I have already featured =Emotication however, due to more developments and a new range of people viewing the news article I felt it might be useful to feature it again.

=Emotication is a tutorial and resource based emoticon club. The club aims hold a collection of links to different pages that may interest emoticonists, and those interested in creating emoticons. The club started as a simple 1 page idea, and soon developed to cover as many areas as possible. Below are some links to useful pages on the site.

- Tutorial list - This page contains all the emoticon tutorials found on dA. The list contains over 160 tutorials that cover a wide range of elements and programs. There is also a Tutorial searcher under construction to make browsing this list far easier

- Base Packs - If your not interested in shading the emoticon yourself, this page contains a list of ready made bases which can be used within your own animations

- Emoticon Projects - Projects are a brilliant place to join the emoticon community and meet other members. This page keeps an up to date record of new and old emoticon projects that have been hosted on dA

- Current Contests - Its always nice when you can have the chance to win some prizes from your art, so this list of current contests keeps track of contests that may interest emoticonists on dA

- Mentors - Emotication is currently in the process of setting up and emoticon mentor system. For more info, check out this page

Noticeboard

=xxfangirlkillerxx has launched a new emoticon project known as the Emote Disaster project. At the second the project is lacking entries, and it would be great to see some more being created.

The fiery beard contest hosted by `Zikes closes this week on the 24th. You still have just enough time to make an entry if you’re interested.

`kuschelirmel is holding a contest to design her a new avatar. The contest is open to any type of avatar style, but she would like to see some emoticon entries too. The deadline is not until may 1st, but you can check out the details here

A second emoticon project was launched this week. The Design my universe project hosted by *Tifa22 is a space themed emoticon project. Only static entries are accepted, but it would be nice to see more deviants taking part
