The Concept
Sometimes you find a friendship that just works. It can be your best friend who you tell all your secrets to.. or it can be your group of cornflakes that you spend all your time with.

So the ultimate divas, ^2dazed =evile33 `Flutterings ^PurpelBlur ^shebid and ^snowmask decided to do something with their awesome power rangersesque friendship - and we bring you the Box Competition.

The idea is, you have a 600 x 600 pixel square (click here to download the square!) which you may put anything* in. The square must be posted as a gift for another deviant.

* Within deviantART policies, of course

Depending on the content of the square you may enter it into one of five categories. Literature - Photography - Digital Art - Traditional Art and Miscellaneous.

This competition will CLOSE on May 1st.

Literature
Squares that are primarily text based will be entered into the Literature category, which is being run by me, `Flutterings with a handy crew of judges. I'll be looking for honesty, genuine emotion and flair.

Photography
Squares that are photography based will be entered into the photography category. You can edit them BUT if you use brushes, textures or more than one image it moves into the Digital Art category. =evile33 will be running this category and she will be looking for a good quality and creative photo with good execution.

Digital Arts
This includes (but is not limited to) vexelling, vectoring, photo manipulations, 3D arts etc. This category will be run by ^shebid who will be looking for something aesthetically pleasing to the eye, as well as meaningful. Some digital arts like Typography will be classified in our Miscellaneous category.

Traditional Arts
Squares that are created in traditional non-digital medias will fall into the hands of ^snowmask who will be looking for a good set of skills used well to create something personal and meaningful! Drawing, illustration, painting, sketchings etc all fall into this category (even fan arts).

Miscellaneous
We have TWO fabulous judges for this category - ^PurpelBlur and ^2dazed. This category will catch all of the ones that don't fit in other categories. Collages of mediums, typography, film and animation (!), animated gifs, digitally created comics and cartoons (traditional ones fall under Traditional Arts), game arts, flash, artisan crafts (not sculpture). They will be looking for something striking and unusual to catch their attention.


So those are the categories.

How to Enter
When you've finished the box you'd like to enter for judging just send it in a note to =DeviantARTLove - an account which we are taking hostage for this competition.

Once it's added to a collection (in the favourites gallery) by this account, you are in.


There will be 3 top prizes for the best representations of friendship and love. These top three will be from any of the categories. After they have been picked those three entries will be removed from the hat, and we will pick our category winners. So you have EIGHT chances to win big.

The Judging
Each team is being super secretive about their judges... some teams may be judging all the entries themselves, and some may form a crack team of hard critiquers... check the =DeviantARTLove page for all the latest updates and informations.

Rules
Must be submitted after 26th of March.
Must be submitted before 1st of May.
You may only enter once (but we encourage you to make lots of squares for your friends, then pick the one you like the most and enter that one)
The judges decisions are final.
If we put your entry into a category you think is inappropriate (i.e. into literature when its a photo) please contact us BEFORE the competition closes.
Judges may enter (but may not vote on their own piece) but category managers may not enter.
The winners of the top three prizes are not eligible to win their category prize as well.
