This last Christmas time over 150 of your fellow Deviant Artists helped out with a Charity Sketch for a children's hospital in California. It was my passion to do that which lead to the idea, "Why can't we expand and use our gifts/talents to help out more people?!?"


We are here to get the ball rolling on our new Charity group! After a very successful Charity sketch for the Children's hospital (donating over 100+ pieces of artwork/stories), I am very convinced that we can reach out to many other places and we can grow as a community here on DA! This is another ambitious undertaking but I know we can do this!!! But before I create the group here on DA though there are a couple of "needs" that have to be addressed before hand and I want everyone to have a voice in its creation:



1.) We need to come up with a Charity Group name
For our previous Charity sketch we used the hospital's name in our charity event; CHOC Art ("CHOC" stands for Children's Hospital of Orange County). So we can't use this for our group name


2.) I need someone who excels at CSS. I have a basic understanding of our journal system, but I need help creating a unique journal that will be interactive. One that will be easy to navigate, showcase what charity's we are helping out for that month, who the leaders are, where art can be submitted to, etc...


3.) Finally (so far) I need everyone to make a comment under the GIVEN POLL (just like last time) so that way I have a list of people that either want to join, or that just want to help out from time to time. If someone wants to be a Leader, please note me.
This leads me into how the group will work...



"Leaders:"
Our Charity Network will be composed of 5 "leaders" (including myself) who's responsibility will be to find charity's that we can help. They will call/write to coordinate with said charity's to create a relationship between our network and them. They will have full access to the Charity page here on DA and be able to update the journal as they see fit to let everyone know what is going on, who we are helping, what needs to be done, etc. They will also be the go to people if any artist has a question that needs to be answered. Also, please download SKYPE so we can make scheduled conference calls once a month to go over all charity information all the other Leaders need to know


Artists:
It appears we will have two group of Artists. "Committed Artists" who will help out with each Charity sketch & "Partial Members" who will help out from time to time. While I understand life does get busy I hope everyone understand we will only be doing 6 Charity events a year. (Each Leader will be responsible for one Charity event a year) So I hope to have as many "Committed Artists" as we can get seeing that really isn't a lot of art to do per year in the first place.
* We need all ranges of artists too; Traditional, digital, colorists, line artists, sprite, anime, chibi, painters, modelers, writers, poem writers, and all the colaborations that can go together with everyone!

That said a Charity Event will go for 2 months. A Leader will have a couple of weeks to get everything setup with which ever Charity they want to help. Afterwards everyone will be made aware on the journal what it is, who it is for, what we need, where to submit, etc. The Artist will then have an entire month to submit, leaving 2 weeks left to the Leader to do any wrap up work that needs to be done.
