So what is Game Development Art (GDA)? Well, imagine you are looking for a job in the games industry. What do you think a potential employer wants to see in your portfolio? Halo screenshots? Sonic fan art? Final Fantasy wallpaper? Photographs of cats? No, of course not. So why do people insist on uploading these things to GDA?

Firstly, let's make this very clear:
GAME DEVELOPMENT ART IS FOR ORIGINAL WORK ONLY.
Fan Art, of anything, even if it is a videogame, goes in the Fan Art gallery.

SCREENSHOTS FROM GAMES ARE NOT GAME DEVELOPMENT ART.
Unless you made the game yourself, screenshots can only be put into scraps.

“But I took this photo off the screen with my own camera!”

Taking a photo/screenshot of a game does not make it your own work – however creative you think you are being.

The truth is that everything in that screenshot, from concept to execution, was created by an artist. And, by claiming any kind of credit for that work, you are showing zero respect for their skills and talent.
