Attention, artists! Your fellow deviants need you!
It has long been apparent that deviantART is a two-tier society. While the rest of the world presents an increasingly united front against prejudice in all its forms, the members of this website
openly discriminate against a certain group of people.
This group is not small; it may in fact make up the majority of users. You will almost certainly know one of these people, if you are not one yourself. The trait they share - the accident of birth for which we judge them - transcends all barriers of race, religion, and political beliefs. Yet we have marginalised these people and robbed them of the voice and the attention due to all members of our community.
This is where ~
WithoutMerit comes in. Since our inception we have fought for the rights of that one group of people:
the talentless. With our help they can exhibit their art without fear, receive tremendous exposure and support, and network with their peers. Now entering our third year, we are pleased to present you with the latest edition of our ground-breaking art feature, known throughout the site as the least discriminatory collection ever assembled.
This time around, we are focusing on
literature. Literature is a niche gallery on deviantART and we see in it a tremendous opportunity. Huge numbers of literature deviations show no evidence of talent whatsoever. With this feature we hope to raise the profile of both the art form and its less than skilful practitioners.
Remember: if
you would like to receive exposure without excelling in any particular field, submit deviations in note form to ~
WithoutMerit. You can also join the club permanently by adding us to your watchlist.
~WithoutMerit would like to thank the deviantART administration and Gallery Moderators for the support they continue to provide. An unprecedented amount of meritless deviations have received Daily Deviation recognition in the last 12 months alone. It must be hoped that this trend will continue so that the stigma of mediocrity may become a thing of the past.Together we can beat elitism!---
Atonement
Our first featured piece is a poem. Rather than atone for this work of literature, its author came to us in the hope of spreading his message further. No wonder she left him.
---
My Twilife
The Twilight series is currently taking the dA literature scene by storm. With so many derivative works and so few people who care, the competition for exposure can be tough. We're featuring this poem in the hope that it will reach a wider audience than it could ever have earned on its own.
---
Fur And Feelings
An examination of obsession and sorrow that makes use of a style of writing known as prose. Yes,
prose. I'd never heard of it either.
---
Pimp's Quest
I'll be honest: I haven't actually read Pimp's Quest. Deadlines are deadlines, you see. But I know the author of this piece and am confident that it has no redeeming qualities that would make it at all popular in its own right.
---
---
We now continue with our hugely successful MeritlessSecret project! Not everyone has something significant or interesting to say, so this rival to =
DeviantArtSecret exists to exhibit the dregs. Don't be silenced just because you have nothing to say!
---
MeritlessSecret 003
I think we've all been in this situation before.
---
MeritlessSecret 004
Finally, a young girl discovers one of life's best-kept secrets: eating takes away the pain.
---
And I'm afraid that's it for now. Please join us if you wish to help us in our aim to bring exposure to those who deserve none whatsoever. This time next year we could well be using a site that proudly exhibits Sonic fanart alongside breathtaking creativity, but we can only achieve this if we continue to progress at the current pace. Thank you for reading, and we hope to hear from
you soon!
