#Cabal presents: THE COPYCAT COMPETITION

=salshep:iconsalshep: reports, April 1
#Cabal, along with our sister site, *The-Cabal, are pleased to bring you our first major competition, in which we are asking you to write an original poem or short piece of prose-- in the style of one of your favourite dA writers.

:silentkitty: That’s right. We want you to be copycats!

Copy style, phrasing, subject matter, every aspect of the other person’s work you possibly can (except their actual words, of course!).

You can even write a parody if you like-- but it MUST be in good humour! Snarky or disrespectful entries will be deleted from the comp.

HOW TO ENTER:

:reading: Please follow these instructions, or we can’t judge your entry!

:bulletred: :bulletorange: CHOOSE a writer on dA whose work you admire.

-- You can choose anybody you like. It doesn’t matter if somebody else has already chosen them, as long as they agree to be the subject of your entry.

:bulletred: :bulletorange: NOTE the writer and ask for permission to copy their style.

-- (this is to help avoid disrespectful entries, and is compulsory)

:bulletred: :bulletorange: WRITE a short piece of PROSE (no longer than 1000 words) or POETRY, in the style of your chosen writer.

:bulletred: :bulletorange: LINK at least TWO examples of your chosen writer’s work in the writer’s comments section of your entry.

:bulletred: :bulletorange: TITLE your entry (in the deviation box) to include the name of your chosen writer. I.e:

“The Happy Clappy Squirrel”
-- inspired by salshep

:bulletred: :bulletorange: Upload your entry to the special The Copycat Competition category SUBMIT HERE

COMPETITION CLOSING DATE: April 30th, 2009
The competition is open for entries from now until April 30th, pending the comp category going up.

Results will be announced in the news on (or shortly after) May 7th.

:#1: So, woohoo! You prosers have something to do while the rest of the lit world is NaPo crazy. And our poets can even double up their entry as a NaPoWriMo piece. Everybody happy!

JUDGING & PRIZES

Prizes will be judged on :

-- the quality of the entry itself.

-- how well it mimics the style of your chosen writer.

:trophy: First prize: A 1 year sub & a deviantWEAR tshirt from Community Relations

:trophy: Runner-up prize: A 6-month sub & emoticon stressballs from Community Relations

We hope you enjoy the comp-- and Happy Writing!

:eyes: PSSST! Keep your eye out for other exciting #Cabal projects, coming soon!
