Over to who?
I recently wrote a journal entitled
Horror photographers, over to you!, about art, self-promotion and the art of self-promotion. I invited the readers of that journal to write an artist bio and choose some work from their own gallery to feature so that I could pimp them in a series of awesome news articles. Since not all my watchers are horror photographers, I have welcomed artists who shoot within other genres too.
Over to you!
You can see all the articles in the series
here, and new ones will be added regularly. If you'd like to submit your own artist bio, check out the info
here and send me a note. Obviously I'd prefer you to have at least one horror photo in your gallery, and the pieces of work which you choose to illustrate your bio must be photographic, preferably horror-themed. There's no time limit on this project and I'm happy to keep writing articles as long as people keep submitting bios.

Xerces, AKA Kitty, says "I'm known to many as Kitty and I'm a full time geologist in the UK. I also volunteer as a Message Network Operator (MN@) on deviantART.
I'm a photographer and make up artist in my spare time, and even though I don't get to do much of it these days, horror photography is a great way for me to unwind and release stress. A lot of my horror work revolves around injury, gore, concept and fear. I enjoy using fake blood and small-scale prosthetics in my work"
"I get a lot of inspiration for photos from just about everywhere. A lot of my work is inspired by the lyrics of my favourite songs, some of it is inspired by movies and some are inspired by dreams. Lyrics seem to be so fantastic and open to interpretation. Movies are a little less inspiring, even though they are depicted through moving images. I find it harder to draw original inspiration from something I have already seen"

"All my idea get written down in a book so I don't forget them later on. I have a lot of ideas to get through, and I'm hoping one day I will have all the settings, props and model needs for some of the more challenging ideas I have had. I hope one day to get some of my really big shoots done- but I'm keeping quiet about those ones so not to spoil the surprise- and also because it could take years for me to get all of the things I need for them!"
"Some inspiration has been drawn from bad things in life, such as arguments, break-ups or bad dreams. I like to feel that my photography is a way of making good of bad things in life- making something a light-hearted but also slightly serious take on what happens in life"

"A common misconception I've seen is that people think all horror photographers are depressed or insane. Even though I cannot speak for all, I can say that I certainly am neither depressed or insane. I feel horror photography is uplifting and calming. I'd much rather simulate gore and injury than do it or see it for real. It helps me get over crap that happens in life- because no matter how happy you are, something will always bring you down. I see photography as the light at the end of the tunnel"
"I should mention that some of my work is inspired by some of the great friends I have on deviantART, as well as friends in real life. The people that know about my horror photography support and help me very much through setting up photos, modelling, ideas and improvisation. My boyfriend- Geoff, my work colleague- Jen, ~
08Spectre80 from deviantART and a few other friends I met from university have been nothing but supportive- and I have a lot to thank them all for"
