Welcome to this weeks volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 27th volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.
Featured Emoticons:
1.
Its always great to see emote characters being turned into different things, and thats the case in Emote gerbil by =
MenInASuitcase The 3D element is nicely pixelled and the running animation has been well animated. The spin at the end is a great touch, giving it a spot in this weeks featured section.
2.

It can be hard to pixel one gun for an emoticon, let alone several in one animation. Each one in Addicted to weapons by ~
hsn2555 has been created with brilliant detail and excellent firing effects. The animation flows smoothly and it generally looks an excellent emoticon all round.
3.

I really enjoy seeing how perspective has been used in Candy by ~
Mr-Jaunty The shading and animation is top notch throughout, and the concept is brilliantly displayed. Its one of those emotes you can watch over and over again, even if it does leave you feeling a little dizzy.
4.

It was a mixture of flawless animation and a unique idea that attracted me to ants by =
Kermodog. The concept is full of brilliant little elements from an emotes expression to an extremely cute bounce which really enhance the emoticon as a whole, and giving it this weeks 4th featured spot
5.

I couldnt resist featuring Fun with mah helicopter by =
madb0y. The pixelling of the helicopter is exceptional and the blade motion is very smooth. The background is also created to a high standard and although the animation is minimal, its very effective making this and all round excellent emoticon.

Give us a YAY!
After being a Gallery Moderator now for 2 months, I felt it was about time for a contest within the gallery. With some assistance from ^
Helewidis, this week we managed to launch it, and its great to see some entries already.
The name and theme of the contest is Give us a YAY! and is designed for both emoticonists and those new to emotes. One of the main differences between this contest and any other is the category system. To give those new to the gallery a chance of winning, there is both a New and Experienced category for entry.
I have had a few questions asking what defines if Im new or experienced. I had my reasons for not setting guidelines, and this will be addressed here. It was very difficult to write a list of things which separates new from experienced, One suggestion is the number of emoticons created, but creating 20 revamps of

and

emotes isnt the same as 20 progressively harder emoticons. A second suggestion was time taken to create an emoticon. However a complex emote with a pixel background can take just as long, if not longer than new emoticonists making a simple one. A third suggestion was length of time in the community. Again that seems a little unfair as some people join dA after being already experienced within emoticons.
The simple answer is cases will be judges individually. There are many factors that affect the decision, and I dont wish to set guidelines which may cause yet more confusion. If you are unsure, just submit your emote anyway and the judges will decide. Which category you fall in shouldnt affect the time, effort or energy that you put into it, so its not essential to know.
Also, please remember to submit it to the correct category. I am aware that there were some issues with locating the category in the first few days. This has now been fixed, so if you happen to come across one not in contests -> 2009 -> Give us a YAY please either contact the emoticonist or myself so it can be moved.
I look forward to any entries I see. For more information on the contest, or to help promotr it within the community, please check out

Noticeboard

Waluigi-Prower has relaunched his cool blindfold emote project. The idea is to draw an emote while the layer is invisible or your eyes are closed. The result is rather amusing, so check out
here for more info
- This week Ive been in touch with another GM about running an event involving both galleries. The idea sounds pretty cool, so watch this space
- I am still looking for DD suggestions. The number Im getting is slowly increasing, but the more the better

- Or official CR chat
#WeEmote is a featured chat at the second. Its a perfect time to come in and meet other emoticonists. We might not always be awake, but give us a poke and we can come to life

Devious Comments
There are some great emotes here, as always.
I especially loved the addicted to weapons and candy ones.
I haven't seen either before and they were great.
