What is Earth Day?


Wikipedia:

Earth Day is celebrated April 22 every single year, both held annually during spring in the northern hemisphere, and autumn in the southern hemisphere. These are intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.
A second Earth Day, which was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22.

But... (The Idea)

Without the Earth: the planet we all live on, we all begin and leave, we get and give love, we make art on and so go on... we would be nothing.
For almost everything you have to pay in life, but... the life you got, the life you're living now, the air you breathe through your lungs, you got for free. The Earth is free, for you to be.
We should be more aware of that. We should be more aware and appreciate that that without our little planet, and we're very lucky, we wouldn't be here.
We should make more actions to make more people aware, also for the future generation, about the current situation the Earth has to deal with (like global warming).


How?

Simple: Start with yourself, that's where it all begins...

And this is one of those actions
What would be better than a little Text Art Contest?
After all: typography is often a direct message.
With typography/text you're make something clear. And you can use all kind of effects around it, messing around with letters and so go on to get more attention.

What you have to do?:


Make a Typography piece

Theme: Earth (Day) (if your entry got nothing to do with the Earth, it won't be accepted...)

Deadline: The contest begins now and stops at April 30th 2009 12 PM EST ( = Eastern Standard Time). Entries noted after that time won't be accepted. (So you got 2 weeks the time)

Subject of the note: ''Contest Entry'' and please give me a thumb or a link to your entry.

Style: (vector, vexel, painting, 3D, pixel art etc.) also your choice, do whatever you like the most!


You cannot enter with a previous Text Art piece, the Text Art piece must be new and made by you. You can only enter 1 entry.
