Welcome to this week’s volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 28th volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.

Featured Emoticons:

I couldn’t resist featuring Super glomp by ~Dabombguyman. The expressions used on both emoticons are brilliant and the animation is smooth throughout. The shading is of excellent standard and the way the bottom emoticon rotates is a brilliant touch.

2.
I love to see people take different phrases and use them in a unique way within emoticons. :Disarmed: by ~Wooded-Wolf is a perfect example of this. The concept is nicely shown and the animation as the arm springs back has been well thought out. The scissors have been well pixelled, making this a brilliant all round emoticon.

My 3rd feature this week is I’m a bird by ~Rekizd. The pixelling of the beak at different angles has been nicely done, and the detail on the tree is also great to look at. The animation flows well and the shaking of the camera is a great effect, making this an emoticon you could set and watch several times over.

4.
I love the cuteness element in :stimmy: by =SparklyDest. The animation is lovely to watch and the way the emoticon is slightly squished really adds to the feel of it all. Along with being an excellent emoticon, it also carries a message about autism awareness. I would definitely encourage you to read the artists comments and take part in Autism Awareness Month

5.
When I first saw frying pan by =ManiacalMuffin I couldn’t help but giggle. The idea is entirely random but works very well. The pixelling of the frying pan is excellent throughout and the squished emoticon is rather amusing. The way the black emoticon crawls out is a nice addition to the emoticon, giving it this weeks 5th featured spot.

Plz accounts

With the news of plz accounts now being created at a rate of 60 a day, I thought I would write a small area on these to help define them for people that are unsure what they are.

Plz accounts are deviantART accounts created purely for the use of their avatar. An image is placed as the icon so it can be used around the site wherever avatars can be placed. They are known as plz accounts as the majority ending in the 3 letters ‘plz’ to both show it is an account for this reason and to ensure that useful dA names are not used up. Some time ago many plz accounts were banned and the avatars removed to discourage people from making them. However later a decision was made to allow them, so many more have been set up, but a few of the originals remain as empty accounts.

Because a different account is made for each plz account, some deviants are not too fond of them. However for many people they supply a temporary method of using custom emoticons (an other images) around the site before the upgraded version of the legend is released. The plz accounts can be displayed the same way as any normal icon by typing :iconPlzAccountName:, for example :iconwavesplz: produces .

Similar to any other account, you can create 3 plz accounts per an email address. After creating the first, you will need to check a box to make the 2nd and 3rd accounts on the same email address. You can later transfer more accounts onto one email address, but only 3 can be created on each. It is suggested that when making plz accounts you clearly leave a link back to the original deviation (so people can find it) and if it is not your own image, you request permission to use it first. As the icon is a normal avatar, it also holds the limits of 50x50 pixels and 15kb.

Please understand that not all plz accounts are emoticons. There are many out there that are normal images, and not emotes. This is a common mistake and although some plz accounts are emotes, not all are.

If you use firefox, I can also suggest you check out Plz Me for dAmn and the Plz legend as two scripts designed to help use plz accounts.

After a lull in new projects, we had two new ones appear this week.

Everybody Thrust Project



The deadly thrust virus seems to have reappeared and it causing many members of the community to continuously thrust. =ManiacalMuffin is making a collection of victims in the ‘Everybody Thrust Project’. If you feel the symptoms coming on, definitely go check it out

Emote Plushie Project



The second project set up this week is the Emote plushie project hosted by =Sinister-Starfeesh. This is set to be a very cute project and already has a good number of entries. So grab a copy of the base here and join in the fun.

- After quite a long wait, I am happy to say the *Emotication emoticon mentors system is now up and running. We paired up our first set of deviants yesterday and will hopefully keep on top of any new mentor requests that are coming in. We seem to have a lack of mentees that use GIMP as we have 8 GIMP mentors. If you happen to use this program (or any other for that matter) and wish to sign up for a mentor, please check out *Emotication

- I am personally a little bogged down with school work. I will ensure that these articles are still posted (as I feel you guys like seeing them) but I may not be as active within dAmn as usual.
