misskittyoooo: What made you want to do Daqueran in watercolors?

<misskittyoooo> GaioumonBatou: Watercolours is something I've been doing for about 15 + years, so it's my most comfortable medium.
I also think fantasy art always seems to look the best in watercolours.

<misskittyoooo> Originally I didn't so watercolour simply because of how much time it took
but later i realized I can paint a whole page in one day if I have to so, why not

Did you go by a certain set of personal guidelines?
I was just curious

<misskittyoooo> Oh well, lots of things really. When I'm looking at comics generally I like clean easy to read images.
My personal set of guidlines is to make it eyecatching and colourful and to make sure I make it clear from even a thumbnail that it's a fantasy comic

<witchiamwill> I've been looking to get into comic art to expand my art skills. Is there any recommendations for books or programs to work with?

<misskittyoooo> comic art is supposed to be super expressive and solid. I think for comic art the best place to start is to study animation
there are animation techniques that can really help you make your character flow and move better
Line of action, squash and stretch are the too major ones

<witchiamwill> Thank you. Thats my current area of work and over exaggerated expressions.

<misskittyoooo> When you use those in comics you don't exagerate them as much but they are very apparent, even in the more realistic styled comics.

<elicoronel16> misskittyyoooo: What made you want to become a comic artist? did you have some favorite comics or cartoons as a child that might have inspired you? ( wich ones )

<misskittyoooo> elicoronel16: Heck yes! I grew up reading Archie comics. HAHA but they had nothing to do with it. My main inspirations are he-man and She-ra, The last unicorn and a kids fairy tale book published in 1986
The last unicorn was my major fantasy influence, She-ra made me want to draw people and the fairy tale book made me love traditional art
I actually have the fairy tale book in front of me
It made me want to illustrate stories and for the longest time I wanted to be a book illustrator
but I had no storeies and I'm not much of a creative writer, even though I had a lot of stories in my head. Comics seemed the logical answer

<misskittyoooo> GaioumonBatou: It's kind of weird, it evolved gradually.
At first it was a story of a dragon rider, I had designed him a large land riding dinosaur things
and he went around and was defending the land and all that, but later I changed it around

<GaioumonBatou> Makes sense.

<misskittyoooo> the original idea is now the past and ... theres alot of stuff I cant say because it's a spoiler... But anyway, the oiriginal story is now a legend and this is them stopping it from happening again

<misskittyoooo> I didn't really want to leave comics and cartoons, but I needed something with a bit less work and I thought it was time to move on and let someone else have a chance
Plus they really needed me in film and `fallenrox is a friend of mine
But I realized that I cant do all this and Daqueran too so I wanted to concentrate on comics

<misskittyoooo> I think It paid off, shortly after i was approached by FHM estonia and Pheonix lore

<Cedarseed> What is it about the comic medium that makes it so appealing to you? What does it offer you that other mediums don't?

<misskittyoooo> Cedarseed: It offers me a chance to tell stories and create worlds that I can actually follow and that people can follow
Lots of people have characters of their own, but they usually aren't part of anything
I love creating characters, but I hate not having them do anything.

<Cedarseed> ooh I know what that feels like

<misskittyoooo> I love story telling and making up maps and stories
I have a few other stories too. Im obsessive too
So when I make and love a character, I cant do anything else
not until I end it, which is why most of the time my characters end up dead
it's kill them or never stop HAHAHA

I also have some for the horro comic that I'll be doing after as well, but all in my head.
They are mostly in my head because while Im doing daqueran, Im thinking about those characters as well and making sure they will not behave the same
It's hard with characters because they often become very similar to their creator

<misskittyoooo> Rose-Rayne: well, originally my plan was to watercolour, but because I planned on getting it printed, I thought digital would be better.
And easier
But I cant colour digitally at ALL
like not even little bit, I can make talk baloons on PS and thats about it

<misskittyoooo> So I had to get people to do it and because of how many hands Daqueran passed though it took much longer and we were not able to update often
it was updated every two weeks, and often late
it looked pretty good and it printed really nice, but it was slow going.

Watercolour is less common and I thought I shouldnt hide my watercolouring just for ease of print.
Everyone does digital, I wanted to be different
elicoronel16: Thanks I use an airbrush for the glow effects

<misskittyoooo> Thats the thing about Daqueran too, it's 100% Traditiaonl. I dont so anything but the text and balloons digitally. I do not edit the art at all

It's a collection of fables from all over the world and all illustrated with beautiful detailed art
