This feature was brought together by my watchers and hours of browsing galleries for inspiring pieces that have gone unnoticed. Here are the results, one hundred beautiful photographs with under one hundred favorites. Let's give these artists the attention they deserve <3
We have decided to organize this contest to motivate people create more art. We would be happy if you would give it a try. You can think of anything you want, just make sure you still respect the theme. You can choose to illustrate dreams, nightmares or even both of them. Anything you want! Try not to be macabre if you are picturing nightmares. Respect the rules, have fun and most important, follow your heart!
This is the third part of my "Best Of The Best" features! These features consist of my absolute favorite photography that i've collected since i've been a member of DeviantArt.
This feature's focus is on VERTICAL photography, give them some love!
"The True Cost of Free"-Why Photographers shouldn't offer their service for free. This is a MUST read for anyone who wishes to sell their work or offer services in photography.
yeah, there is a great article about it on Croatian photography forum, whit list of actual expenses you do have and should charge for if you were an amateur... and added costs for pro photographers. but the example there was great. personally i'd only do that for a friend as i know it'd be good for both of us and she is one of my best friends, and she'd give me free clothes anyway. i can understand when photographers and models are just starting, so they both do each other a favour when they do a photoshoot, but in the case mentioned in the article, that was not the case. thanks for sharing.
It is very sad but true, I hate the thought that because our cameras are digital the photographs are 'free' shooting sporting games for money I am approached by parents occasionally that ask for me to email them an image, its ridiculous they get offended when I tell them I will gladly do it for 30 dollars an image. <sigh>
I only give my services free, like this summer a friend has asked me to do her wedding, and I will for free as my wedding present. I'm scared to death but nuttin in life is free honey....LMAO
Great read John!

"Telling my to be quiet....to not allow my Soul to feel, is like telling the Sun never to rise, or the Moon to fade away."
if you're good at something, never do it for free...
Out here in Colorado, everybody and their brother has a camera (many own very nice DSLRs) and they all think they are (professional) "photographers."
i would feel confident saying that Colorado has one of the highest "awesome camera" to "beginning and novice" photographers ratio in the states. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of pros out here, but there seems to be an abundance of amateurs floating around willing to shoot for free (fashion, head shots, events, weddings) just to build a portfolio. You see "TFCD" a whole lot.
There's not much that can be done to change the market, unfortunately. The downside is that many people are being driven to think that photography should be free. it's a hard knock on photographers trying to start out and make a business as well as the consumers who, likely, find that their free photographer's work was less than what they were expecting.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
