April 2 Flying Squid Fork Necklace by *Doctor-Gus (Jewelry)

April 3 Goddess of the Body by ~Recycled-Oxygen (Sculpture and Glass > Pots & Vases)

According to the artist, all her painted tea bowls "are inspired by the Japanese Bushido gang and their beautifully intricate tattoos that cover their bodies. The right side of the cup is a torso of a man. On the other side of the tea bowl is the Goddess Benten. She is the maiden deity of water and the arts and the only woman among the Seven Gods of Luck and Fortune. She represents the gentle arts of music, painting, literature, and soft speech. The clay body is 181 white stoneware. It was bisqued to cone 6, painted and refired to cone 04 then glazed and fired for the final time to cone 1. The painting process usually takes me 10-15 hours per cup."

This rendition of Elizabeth Swann from PotC is one of her best and has won Best in Craftmanship on an international level Costuming event before. April 5 The House of Mouse Family by *The-House-of-Mouse (Textiles > Plushies)

Each tiny little mouse is handmade from felt... and I see Van Gogh Mouse, Cello Mouse, Zombie Mouse and omg, the whole family's flanked by Executioner Mouse and Hannibal Lecter Mouse! April 11 Happy Easter by ~GreenWay999 (Culinary Arts)

Pysanky is the art of egg decorating and its origins are south-eastern Europe in what is now Ukraine and it predates Christianity. A kystka is used to apply beeswax in a wax-resist technique and then the egg is dyed repetitively to achieve astonishingly complex designs.


April 12 True Regal Top Hat by *evelynellenor (Textiles > Accessories)

I am really smitten with this hat because it is the most elegant design that I have seen in a very long time. In purple fur felt, it was made by a young milliner, Evelyn Ellenor Mad Hattery, who "is inspired by Vintage Classics, Burlesque Starlets, Stunning Costumes, and Modern Alternative Fashion Trends... and specialising in all sizes of Top Hats from Miniature to Gentlemen's." April 13 Music Spider Brooch by ~harlewood (Jewelry)

The suggester, who is also an accomplished jeweler, said, "Being a jeweller myself, I know what it is like to work with the materials, and I can tell you straight out that to join wire the way ~harlewood has in this piece is very difficult! The shapes are crisp with clean lines showing that the piece was not overpolished. The positioning of the objects on the wire is both well placed and neatly soldered. The spider is a gem, his body is proportionally correct and the whole design is really great!" Suggested by ~biltongboy.

The suggester said, "This is a fantastic example of paper sculpting. Hazel has created a great illustration as well as an impressive example of paper engineering. She seamlessly blends characters and elements into a cohesive image with a great deal of visual interest. The mixture of textures in the clothing and food are great and varied. The suggester wrote, "I saw 's deviation "Of tides" and thought to myself, 'Wow, another fantastic drawing by Blue.' Then, I scrolled down to the Author's comments (which has a stunning short story to go along with the drawing) and I saw that this was a tapestry... that is 8 feet long. The suggester said of this crocheted Wall-E plushie, "I have come across this little crocheted version of Wall-E multiple times and every time I do, my heart melts. Is it ironic my son is watching the movie? Anyway, I do some crocheting and can only imagine the patience needed to go into such a small piece, particularly with the details." April 20 Amuse-Bouches by ~neongeisha (Culinary Arts > Main Dishes)

A trio of amuse-bouches: Three-Color Savory Cake (with spinach, soft white cheese, ham), Poppy Seed Roll (with soft white cheese, Trappist cheese, ham), and Savory Truffles (with chicken, parsley root, celery root, Trappist cheese, sourcream, olive). The amuse-bouche dates from nouvelle cuisine of the early 70s and these one-bite taste sensations are, according to executive chef Rocco DiSpirito, "the only fully creative outlet you have, the only completely free thing you can do. April 21 Dragon Burn by ~themeindzeye (Woodworking)

The suggester said of this fantasy woodburning that it is "a very detailed rendition of a dragon done by woodburning. The flow of the body and tail is completely suited to the shape of the wood and the wings follow the wood grain for a great natural pattern." Suggested by *cl2007.


April 22 The amazing leaf carving art by ~longalcraft (Miscellaneous)

Carving leaves is apparently a new artform with origins in China. A chinar leaf (also known as Oriental plane) that looks similar to a maple leaf, is used and the design is made by cutting and carving away the surface of the leaf.


April 23 Choco-Mint Faux Cupcake - 01 by ~CreativeAbubot (Sculpture and Glass > Ornaments & Paperweights)

The suggester said, "While browsing the front page, a picture of cupcakes caught my eye. I click on the picture and - it's a fake! They're all fake! But they look so good. ~CreativeAbubot's entire gallery is good enough to eat... if only it were all edible!" Suggested by ~oliverat.


April 24 Easter Eggs by *sasokity (Miscellaneous)

It's still just the beginning of Eastertide and only a few days since the Eastern Orthodox Christian Easter, which is the most extended religion in Romania where this artist is from. Only 15 years old, she learned her craft from her grandmother and it took her a month to paint this set of eggs with wax, acrylics, and a syringe. She gave some of them away to her friends and said that soon she'll give the rest of us a tutorial on how to decorate eggs in this Romanian tradition. This one should definitely be seen in full-view!
