I find it interesting that so many of the examples shown are photo-manipulation and almost border on graphic design. Is this the next generation of photgraphy or just a current trend? Will basic still become a thing of the past as computer programs become less expensive and easier to manipulate photos into this more advanced medium? Just something to think about... :hmm:

"The reason I will not exhibit this picture is that I am afraid that I have shown in it the secret of my own soul." Oscar Wilde, "The Picture of Dorian Gray."

Agreed. :hmm:

They say time heals all wounds... what really heals those wounds is love.
:iconexillior:
That was a very interesting selection, but as has already been pointed out, I wanted to say that several of the shots chosen to exemplify the photographers' work were photomanips which on dA would be counted as miscats if they were placed in the Photography gallery.

"Is it better to trust blindly or distrust blindly?"
:iconninereeds-da:
I was about to make the same comment.

I've suffered for my Art, now it's your turn
:iconellie-the-dreamer:
A few of the artists look interesting, but the majority of them I don't think should be on the list...
Were they intentionally all contemporary artists? Because if I were writing the list I'd be putting Karl Blossfeldt, Brassai, Ansel Adams and Eugene Smith on there. They are all past photographers but they are brilliant artists, and their work will last much longer than any fashionable artists' work will.

"My only aim was to express reality, for there is nothing more surreal than reality itself. If reality fails to fill us with wonder, it is because we have fallen into the habit of seeing it as ordinary."

- Brassai, 1899-1984
