So i herd u liek emotes?? - Volume 32

`Synfull:iconSynfull: reports, May 17
Welcome to this week’s volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 32nd volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.

:bulletred: Featured Emoticons: :bulletred:

1.
People that know me will know I love lots of colour, so Inspiration by ~Wooded-Wolf really caught my eye. The use of colour is brilliant and the animation of the wave is exceptional. The whole piece is generally well thought out and brilliant to watch.

2.
It’s always great to see different special effects within emotes, which is why Take the power back by =MixedMilkChOcOlate really appealed to me. Both the explosion and the way the text appears and fades have been pixelled extremely well and the whole emote flows well.

3.
Another brilliant emote submitted this week is Pink Lily by =mintyy. The pixelling of the lily is outstanding and the choice of colours blend well together. The emoticon holding the flower has been well positioned and the choice of expression fits the piece very well.

4.
Theres something about :draughts: by =MenInASuitcase that is really eye catching. The pixelling of the board amazes me as there is so much detail displayed in such a small space and the fluidity of the animation is really top notch. The animation loops exceptionally well to make a cute an amusing emoticon

5.
As emoticons themselves are small, it’s not always easy to animate things that are small in comparison to them. However ~sunLd has done a great job in Fly. The animation is smooth throughout and the blinking of the eyes is a nice touch. The whole idea is nicely displayed to form a brilliant emote to use when an annoying little fly wont seem to leave you alone.

:bulletgreen: Finding Emoticonists :bulletgreen:

Even though the emote community is one of the smaller communities within deviantART its not always easy to locate fellow emoticonists. After browsing the gallery for a couple of years I’ve managed to pick up ways to locate other emoticonists. Some accounts I have on my watchlist are active, some are not so much anymore, but each one is there because I enjoy seeing the emoticons submitted so far.

It’s down to you just how many emoticonists you watch, but if you’re interested in expanding your list, here are my hints and tips:

- Keep an eye out on the newly submitted emoticons. If you spot an emote you like the looks of, click on it and check out the deviants gallery. They may be a new deviant just starting off or a more experienced one, but seeing their art first hand is a great way to find new deviants

- Check out the range of news articles submitted and the daily deviations awarded. Articles such as this and =LeoLeonardo’s a chance to shine series are great for highlighting new and experienced emoticonists, and can be delivered straight to your inbox. DDs highlight some of the best work submitted to the gallery and promote a great range of emoticonists

- Join in or create an emoticon projects. These are great places to meet fellow emoticonist. I myself have spent a good few hours going down lists of project entrants and have quite often found a gem of an artist in amongst the entries. They often attract a wide range of people, and even show by my latest project where I’ve met a few great emoticonists that I didn’t even know existed.

- Come on dAmn into an emoticon based chatroom. Many emoticonists hang out in #WeEmote and the chatroom settings list many emoticonists that have previously been in the room. It’s a brilliant room to meet experienced and new emoticonists and if ou ever need to chat with me I can often be found in there too.

- Look out for emoticon based avatars. Behind every emoticon avatar is an emoticonist. Even if it’s not the deviant themselves, they very often have a link to the artist in a journal/signature. Also be sure to check out the person’s ‘friends’ section as where one emoticon avatar is there are often others to be found.

- Ask myself (^Synfull) for a copy of ‘the list’. Over my 3 years on deviantART I have collected a list of 170+ emoticon accounts on my watchlist. I am willing to send a list to anyone that notes me with a request. I don’t watch every emoticonist, but there’s a good few there to get you started.

:bulletblue: Featured Projects :bulletblue:

The projects have continued to open up over the past week. Although it’s nice to see deviants launching projects, I must now advise you to think before starting up any more. With around 15 opening in the past month it’s getting a little hard to keep up with them all. It would be nice to see them spread out a little more to allow deviants to keep on top of new ones being opened. Many people would love to enter, but due to exams and other commitments they are having to make half-hearted entries or pick to enter just a few of the amazing projects that have been started. It would be much nicer to see a flow of projects starting rather than this large surge we have had recently. So just make sure you are aware of this before diving in and starting your own. By waiting a few weeks you may get more entries and a full feature spot on journals/news articles rather than sharing the limelight with several others.

None the less, 5 more awesome projects were started this week:

Emoticon kitchen project

This project hosted by =maester96 is based on a kitchen theme. It’s currently not received many entries and it would be nice to see a few more deviants take part. So definitely go and check it out :)

Emote Trophy Project

The second project launched this week is the Emote trophy project hosted by =masterddd. You enter all you need to do is create an emote to sit on top of the trophy base. It’s a great lil project, so be sure to check it out.

Emoticon Heights Project

The next project submitted this week is the Emoticon Heights Project hosted by ~Wooded-Wolf. To enter grab a copy of the apartment and colour and fill it how you like. Ones submitted it will be added to the apartment block. It sounds like a great project, so go take a look.

Tard Banner

The tard banner project set up by =MixedMilkChOcOlate is a fun looking project. The idea is to have a number of different tards fall across the banner. Entries must be restricted to a certain size and only one entry is allowed per deviant. Therefore choose your entry wisely, but be sure to enter.

Tard rules

This project hosted by ~5P-emotes hopes to make a list of rules on how to become a tard, each with an illustrated image. To take part first you need to come up with a rule for the sheet and then create it within the template. This project is a little empty at the moment, but it would be nice to see it fill up a bit

:bulletpurple: Noticeboard :bulletpurple:

- The results from the Give us a YAY contest were announced this week. A list of the winners can be found in this article

- -^DeMaulwurfn appears to be taking a step back at the current moment in time. Therefore I suggest you direct any DD suggestions to me to ensure they get looked at.

- Speaking of DD suggestions, the number i am receiving has hit another lull. So if you spot any DD worthy emoticons please make sure you pass them on to me to help me out in featuring them :D

- As many of you know, =Emotication keeps a record of any emoticon projects on one of its pages. The list of open projects is now getting rather long and some listed have been rather dormant for a while. If you have started a project this year, and now consider it finished/closed or don’t mind it being stored in the past projects section can you drop me a note to let me know. The project wont be removed from the page, just stored under the closed section. This allows the page to stay as neat and up to date as possible.

- The next volume of So I herd u liek interviews was released this week, this time featuring =krissi001. If you missed it, you can find a copy here

- `CookiemagiK and =krissi001 have launched a new contest this week. Although not directly connected to emoticons, it still deserves a mention. To enter you must make a deviation out of the bullet points used on dA. It looks like an awesome contest, and more info can be found here

- Please remember if you’d like a project/contest to be featured on =Emotication then it is best that you send me a note. Although I usually spot most projects that pass through the community there are a few that slip past me and a quick note can really help boost the exposure it receives :)

Love that lives in the heart cannot be so easily terminated by time. Even though the encounter is brief its impression shall last a lifetime. No one can change the direction of love that lives in the heart. If you have loved that in itself is the answer.

Think your life sucks? A man was nailed through his hands and feet onto a tree. Before that he was whipped and wore a crown of thorns. He committed no crime, but his blood was used to pay for our sins. His name was Jesus Christ.
