It's Contest Time!

I'm happy to announce to you all "The Create your own Original Princess Contest"
A contest designed for creativity of character design and creation.

Create your own Original Princess, She can be anything, a pirate who is a princess of a foreign land, A vampiric princess of the night, A fairy princess who is two sizes to big for a fairy, an average girl who got wrapped up in her secret royal ancestry, A warrior princess fighting for her people. Create something you'd find interesting, create a fleshed out character from scratch. The choice is yours to create what you wish!

-Deadline-
There is no Deadline! This contest will only end once I have around 150 entries. Once it gets on the mark of where I feel there are enough entries, I will announce that there will be one week left till it ends.


Rules
1.Must follow all of DeviantArts ToS, Rules and Policies.

2.Must Follow all Rules applied to this Contest.

3.Be kind, courteous, and respectful to fellow contestants, judges, and contest holders.

4.Art must be Colored, no ifs ands or buts!

5.A small Bio of the character must be in the description of your Art or Story. If not already apart of the piece itself.

6.No Mary Sues (if you don't know what a mary sue is look it up) Or take this test to see if your character is or is not a mary sue : [link]

7.Nothing Explicit ; Keep it PG-13

8.Blood and Violence is preferably not accepted, a bit of blood is fine, so long as it has purpose to your character *such as a scene from their story* But if it's just there to "enhance" your character with no purpose other than "it looks cool" find another contest. Give me Reasons people!

9. Anthropomorphic characters are fine.

10.If you have any Original Characters *who are princesses* that are pre existing, they are fine, but you must draw them in a new picture/write them in a new story.

11.It Cannot be a "fan" character of an Existing Universe (example;Naruto/Inuyasha/Disney/Star Wars) That is Considered as Fanart/fanfiction.

12.(applies to Written entries only) Length of your characters story : Oneshot/Short Story, one page in length, or an in depth chapter from the characters story that shows detail on who the character is.

13.And of course, the character in general ; Must be a Princess.

14.One princess per picture, it is fine if there is another character present in the picture so long as it is not submitted in your second and third entries.

15. Photography is preferably not wanted for this contest. Photomanipulation is Debatable.

16.Pixel dolls are fine, so long as you are the creator and you alone, no using bases created by others.

17. Picture must be !!

If by chance I bend the rules just the slightest for you "only to avoid problems" it may lower your chances of winning so please...PLEASE read the Rules!

-Format-
The format of your art is optional to what you want to do. You can do it in the format of a character sheet, just a simple drawing with your character posing, or actually draw out a scene and make it more than just a picture presenting your character, make it a piece of art, a scene from a story. Do what you feel most comfortable with, or try something you aren't used to, It's up to you!

-Submitting an Entry-
You must send your submission in a Note, which must look like this -

You must "note" me, no comments on my main page/journal entries/artwork linking me to your entry, be polite! This just keeps things organized for everyone.

Once you've sent me your entry, be it art or story, I will evaluate your entry to make sure it follows the rules I have listed. If so, then it will be officially accepted. If it does not comply well enough with the rules, I will turn it down.


Q & A

Q.When will the contest end?
A.As I said, when it has a large amount of entries I will announce a one week time before it ends. I know some like deadlines, but this is a free for all contest, I've seen to many people end up backing out when they couldn't make a deadline.

Q.If I already have a character made, is it okay if I use an old drawing? Or Color an old drawing?
A.No, Sorry, this just wouldn't be fair to others who have to make "new" characters from scratch, please use your character in a "new" drawing.

Q.Is it okay to have a another character/s in a picture with the princess I am submitting?
A.Yes this is perfectly fine! So long as they are not used in another entry.

Q.Can we enter all possible entries? Both art and literature?
A.Yes! You are not forced to stay in one category! But be sure to have a different princess for each entry is all I ask.

Q.You say it must be colored, is grayscale or B&W fine?
A.Yes I'm fine with this, I just don't want unfinished or half baked works, it has to have some sign of coloring or shade, no linearts.

Q.Is there anything I need to do before entering the contest?
A.Not at all! Just be sure to read the rules, and enter your submission, that's it!

Q.I have traditional art, but no scanner! Can I take a photo and submit that?
A.That is perfectly fine with me! I understand when one doesn't have a scanner, or one that doesn't work.

Q.*reference to rule #6* Isn't being a princess a trait of a mary-sue anyway?
A.Yes and No, It depends on how well developed/created your character is, if she is a well round interesting character with flaws and good traits, that makes it a more enjoyable character, if you character is near inhuman perfection...then that would constitute as a Mary-Sue.

Q.My character is an animal, is that alright?
A.I have nothing against animal characters, they can be enjoyable if done well. I would just prefer human entries. But if you want to enter it, that is fine with me! Animals I will settle for.


The Judges

Once the contest has ended we will begin judging each entry on a number of things present in your entries.

:Art:
Originality : The overall originality of the Character and the Art she is present in.
Design : The overall design of the Character and the Art she is present in.
Creativity : How Creative the Character and the Art is.
Personality : The Personality of the Character.

:Writing:
Originality : The overall originality of the Character and the Story she is present in.
Form : The overall form of the way the Story is written and how the Character presents herself in it.
Creativity : How Creative the Character and the Story is.
Personality : The Personality of the Character.

Each category will be given a rating from 1-10, Judges will be fair, unbiased, and objective. Art will be judged separately from Writing, as Writing has it's own placement in the contest. Once all entries have been submitted and the contest over, I will inform the Judges on what needs to be done for Judging. Since there "might" be a large amount of entries we may have to do this in two "rounds".
