Google went walkabout. Brought back Google Wave.

`thespook:iconthespook: reports, May 29
"Google Wave is a new tool for communication and collaboration on the web, coming later this year."

It takes email and IM, and turns it into the sort of communication tools we've become used to on deviantart, and way more. The video demonstration (found at the end of the post) is nearly an hour and a half long, but it'll blow your mind.

Psycho-Effects of graphics program (just for fun)

Many deviantartists have shared their graphics resources to enrich the choice of solutions for our graphics programs. Sometimes it's not enough : we start to obtain graphics resources by ourselves too. And we sharpen our overview.

StarGate SG1 - BUT FOR REAL!!!

~Twarrior:iconTwarrior: reports, 14h 30m ago
REPLICATORS! Ring any bells?

Look at your computer setup and imagine that you hooked up a 3D printer. Instead of printing on bits of paper this 3D printer makes real, robust, mechanical parts. To give you an idea of how robust, think Lego bricks and you're in the right area. You could make lots of useful stuff, but interestingly you could also make most of the parts to make another 3D printer. That would be a machine that could copy itself.

finalRender Stage 1 Shipping This Fall

=skurvash:iconskurvash: reports, August 5, 2002
Cebas Computer and Trinity Animation announced finalRender Stage 1 (the follow-up to finalRender stage 0 rendering/global illumination plug-in for 3ds max.) along with a peak at some of the new features. FinalRender is a complete replacement renderer for 3ds max 4 and higher.

Some of the new features include (but are not limited to):

:bulletblue: A new form of per-bucket scene division called DynaMSP™ that allows fast rendering of large scene files. Cebas founder Edwin Braun demonstrated the rendering of 3 billion polygon scenes that complete within a few seconds.

:bulletblue: A new form of speed enhanced Global Illumination called HyperGI™ that yields fully GI-lit renderings many times faster than previous technologies. This technology also yields GI-lit animations that do not flicker.

:bulletblue: Networked GI and raytrace rendering that works on each bucket, so that a single image may render ten times faster when ten render slaves are connected.

:bulletblue: A new form of displacment mapping called MTD™ that allows raytracing of enormous amounts of smooth displaced geometry in practical timeframes. (Ten million+ displaced polys rendered in 1-2minutes sound good?)

:bulletblue: A new analytical light particle model for creating reflected and refracted caustics more efficiently. This new technology can create effects of bent light both quickly and also create the thin, wispy look of true caustics without artifacts.

:bulletblue: A non-photorealistic mode, called FinalToon, that can yield painterly and illustration effects of excellent quality.

:bulletblue: True 3D motion blur with minimal speed impact.

:bulletblue: A new mode for sub-surface scatter, where light penetrates translucent surfaces and lights them from inside. For example in a Christmas commercial for Coca Cola where the elves’ ears transmit light when back-lit.

finalRender stage 1 will ship in the fall of 2002 for a price of $695, rather cheap compared to renderers such as MentalRay, lets just hope the quality matches up.

FinalRender is a complete replacement renderer for 3ds max 4 and higher. Excuse me? You gotta have proof to support such a slanderous claim.

I'm the cruelest nine months anyone can suffer.
=skurvash:iconskurvash: Aug 6, 2002, 3:10:12 AM
slanderous? It completely replaces it, as in uses no part of it, as in, renders the scene using its own render engine, thus replacing max's scanline. If you want proof, try FinalRender stage - 0 (or lookup reviews)

Kinda like how litestep replaces explorer shell (at leas, thats my understanding)

Doesn't mean it'll be better, but I'm willing to bet it will be, considering max's scanline renderer isn't that great.
