I was recently browsing this crazy thing called the internet, and I stumbled upon this jewel known as
Game Jolt.
Haven't heard of it yet? Don't worry, we'll all get acquainted quite soon. I signed up instantly and headed right for the chat room (naturally) to find a lively crowd of people chatting about playing and developing games.
Anyway, enough small talk. I decided to interview Game Jolt to find about more about it. Here are my results. Won't you join me?
Aleksandr Grubin: When did Game Jolt go live?
Game Jolt: Early 2009.
Aleksandr Grubin: I was expecting this place to be incredibly popular. With a name like Game Jolt, I was surprised that it hasn't gone viral yet.
Game Jolt: Well, every site has it's starting point, and it's tough to get people to like, you know, notice you? With the features that are already in existence, and the ones that are to come, we're hoping Game Jolt will get a whole lot more attention in the coming months; Everyone has worked so hard on it. We're really working to make sure that the developers are happy, not to mention the gamers, and that's really how it should be.
Aleksandr Grubin: I agree completely. You're all doing a great job so far.

Aleksandr Grubin: What would you say is the main goal of Game Jolt?
Game Jolt: The main goal? To
(1) show appreciation for all the work that indie developers put into their creations,
(2) introduce newcomers to the indie scene,
(3) help promote the developers that tend to get overlooked,
(4) give developers something back for contributing to the site (once the ad revenue feature is ready),
(5) further the indie gaming scene as a whole,
(6) establish a strong community of developers and gamers, and
(7) just be a darn fun place for everyone!
Not really sure there is just one main goal. There are so many, and I'm sure we've missed some.

Aleksandr Grubin: What can you say about GameJolt's ease of use?
Game Jolt: It's vital to the whole concept really. Game Jolt is kind of like the Youtube of indie games now; it's easy to just click a button and find something that catches your interest right away. The quick play feature is very appealing to those that don't like having to deal with downloading stuff, but would rather just jump in and play. We don't think we just speak for ourselves when we say that there's hardly any time to really get around to anything we want to do these days, so Game Jolt's fast and easy features really come in handy for when you need that break in between work hours. But if you find yourself ill or you have the day off, there are deeper games to choose from that would require a bit more time to fully enjoy, so there's a bit of everything really.

Aleksandr Grubin: What should the typical internet user expect to find upon visiting Game Jolt?
Game Jolt: A friendly environment and a helpful community first of all, and we bet you the average internet user would find games here that they've never heard of before; we're getting quite a varied selection, from serious thought provoking adventures to humorous casual games.

Aleksandr Grubin: In conclusion, is there anything else that can be added in regards to Game Jolt?
Game Jolt: We've got MANY things planned, and the means to get there. Be sure to keep checking back as things develop, and we invite you to jump along for the ride!

I felt as though I owed it to the place for being such a wonderful resource. I'd like to see some of the games your husband develops!
