I've been going through my watchlist, alphabetically, and visiting each gallery. I have been saddened to see that many of the people on the list have left deviantart. I feel partly to blame because it has been months since I last visited them. If we are to make DA the true artist community that it set out to be, we need to reach out to other artists, make them feel welcome, and encourage them as much as possible.
These wonderful works of art all have under 50 faves, as of the time I picked them for this article. They are all talented artists who deserve more attention, and faving doesn't cost us anything. We don't pay per click here!
It's a shameful trend here that we have become so stingy with our faves, as if we are worried that some critic is going to go through our favorites and judge us. The worst example I have seen of Fave Scrooges is in the great discrepancy between the number of people who download resources and the number of faves those same resources get. I just found a great Photography Workbook that has been downloaded 156 times and faved only 62.
The best way to make friends at DA is by supporting other artists in their work. We help each other that way. Those of us who have gotten a lot of attention for our art need to remember that others helped us to get noticed here, and we should help new artists in turn.
Please take the time to look at these deviations full view and leave an encouraging comment on the ones you like. When you have the time, visit their profiles to see more.

This is just random text to break up the page and gives your eyes a rest, before moving on to the next group of deviations. I hope you have found many faves up to this point. Don't leave yet, though, because there are many more treasures ahead!

I hope you don't mind me sharing the situation with you but there are often two sides to a coin. Each one of us are valuable and we should try not to be easily offended by each other. We cant always be in two places at once.
By the way, the selection of art you have featured are absolutely wonderful!

You mentioned resources and it's true! I have a tutorial that took me weeks to write... a massive 2500+ people have downloaded it and everyone who has commented says how good it is... yet it has received less than 150 votes of appreciation via the faves system. Go figure.
Oh well, I'm off to have a better look at your selections now - great article by the way (which I will fave!)

I support NNTR - no need to reply or thank me for every comment, reply or fave... use the time to create more beautiful art instead!
