Where’s the credibility?
Well, =ana-in-vogue won herself a 3-month subscription simply by commenting on the forum post, and you can check out my journal entry and Shoutboard as well.

What are you playing at?
Nothing! I love giving away things like this because that’s what gratifies me in my own personal way. Also, it’s fun to see what things people can generate when they see something like a “Comment Here, Win a Subscription” title.

How “random” is this selection anyway, and how does it work?
Simple. A self-written, non-patented script that I have records each and every comment posted to my forum topic, as well as the author of the comment. It then writes down the name of the person who commented, and stores it in a database. When it comes across a name, it checks it against the list of already stored names, and if it sees a match, it does not store the name a second time. That way, commenting multiple times doesn’t increase your chances of winning. Finally, when the contest is over, it randomly selects one name from its list to be the winner.

How can I increase my chances of winning?
Sweet talking me, carrying on a funny or interesting conversation with me, or anything else does not increase your chances. It just increases the amount of posts in the forum topic, but as mentioned earlier, the script recognizes when one posts multiple times, which doesn’t add to one’s chances either.

So what do you win, anyway?
In short, a subscription. For those of you who like details, there’s a simple mechanism that randomly chooses how much the winner gets, which is illustrated below. The winner has a:
- 1/15 or 7% chance of winning a 12-month subscription.
- 2/15 or 13% chance of winning a 6-month subscription.
- 3/15 or 20% chance of winning a 3-month subscription.
- 9/15 or 60% chance of winning a 1-month subscription.

When will we know who the winner is?
The contest ends July 31, 2009, and I will post a journal about the winner, congratulating them and featuring a few of their works. Also, I may or may not write a News Article about the winner, depending on my schedule and laziness. For those of you who would like to know right away, you can follow my journals. Otherwise, it will be announced sometime around August, when the next CH-WAS edition is published.

A NOTE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS!!
The forum topic says that the contest will be over October 31st. That is INCORRECT! The actual end date, as said earlier, will be July 31st. My mistake, don’t get confused.
A few days in advance, I’ll ask @Vlei or another MN@ to lock the topic on July 31st, so that nobody else can post and get in the drawing.
