The MN@ Team regularly review chatrooms and if yours has been chosen to be Featured on the Chat page, it's because you've impressed the MN@ with the way that it is running by providing friendly support and assistance for the community, and generally being an example of excellence in terms of what we'd like to see more of on the chat network.
We've chosen two chatrooms to help celebrate
National LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Month:
#RainbowSanctuary
"
#RainbowSanctuary was created to step out of the shadows of the more Admin-driven LGBT rooms, striving to be a more balanced, democratic place for LGBT people to chat with their own kind without fear of discrimination or disrespect; a place for relaxation, advice or for generally learning more about what it means to be LGBT.
In addition, our entire chat is based around a council system where the Spectrum (Moderators) convene, debate and discuss major chat issues amongst themselves, carefully considering the chatters opinions before voting on their action. At RainbowSanctuary we also employ a "Contact a Mod" list for when Spectrum are absent from the room, created by Spectrum member BiKaZe. It details where each Spectrum member can be contacted in case of room emergencies or for questions regarding the room.
Soon we plan to start off "Games Night", and to hold contests conducted by each Moderator in turn. Our "Game Night" is designed to loosen people up and help to erase any lingering anxiety someone might have. Our current regular chatters have an affinity for word association and 'Would you rather' games along with quizzes featuring hypothetical questions designed to make us all think a bit and be as weird as possible."
#GayBiWorlds
"GayBiWorlds is a place for all the LGBTQQA members of dA. All ages are open, and it provides a safe and welcoming refuge for LGBTQ members who may be feeling insecure about their orientation, as well as a way for the community to network and meet each other. Of course, we don't always talk about queer issues; like any other general chatroom, GayBiWorlds' topic drifts by the minute and several conversations usually go on at once during peak hours. GayBiWorlds is more a chat for hanging out and making friends than anything, and so we haven't felt the need to host any events or contests other than letting people know about general queer-centric national events, such as the Day of Silence and pride parade dates. But that might change in the near future."
Don't forget to check out these three Featured Chatrooms as well. Stop by and say Hi!#JediOrder
"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away". That is the opening line to all six of George Lucas' Star Wars movies. Now, it is time for you to enter that universe, and help decide the fate of that galaxy far, far away.
#JediOrder is a roleplaying chatroom based in the Star Wars universe, taking place 300 years after Return of the Jedi . Players may choose from a variety of character classes, roleplay in any area in the Star Wars universe, and generally build upon the already expanding mythos. Members may also engage in the regular art contests held for prizes and other excellent bonuses. Take a visit, and remember: in #JediOrder, whether you choose the path of good, evil, or just somewhere in between...the Force will be with you. Always."
#TheComplaintsTavern
"
#TheComplaintsTavern is a haven for the irritated, Nirvana for the disenfranchised, and the Mecca of dysfunctional-family forumers. Its Complaints in hyper-speed. It offers intellectual discussion and bitching free of charge, in a quaint bar-room setting. General conversation and the sharing of bizarre interwebs phenomena are welcomed, so long as no dead horses, pandas or water buffalo are resurrected.
On the first of every month well have a newsletter, strange baby cousin to the lovely Forum Newsletter, courtesy of the Taverns own =
cassiedj - we look forward to this with great lulz-anticipation."
#Musicdom
"
#Musicdom is a chaotic maelstrom of musicians and music lovers who come together at all hours of the night and day, from different parts of the world to rant and rave and exchange music from different bands and musicians of any and all genres. We also have random conversations about whatever enters our heads, sing along to songs with each other and play games like Lyric of the Day, in which a lyric from a song is posted in the topic and members attempt to guess the song it's taken from. The winners are given features in the club's journal.
At the moment we're mainly a chat, but we do hope to have contests in the future."
