An Ode to Generosity

=teaphotography:iconteaphotography: reports, December 13
This my way of thanking the participants of two feature projects in which these artistic deviants were excited and happy to feature their friends. It is a tribute to their generosity and the concept of generosity in general.

Spreading the Words: Artwork Under 20 Comments

What is this about?

We've all seen articles and journals featuring deviations without very many faves, but what about without comments? I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say every favourite and watch is appreciated, but comments are worth ten times more than any of that. I can't count the number of times I've seen artwork, even on the front page sometimes, with hundreds of favourites, but that have only 5 or 6 comments. I try my best to comment whenever I can, but I feel the best way I can help to spread the comments around is to feature those pieces that haven't received them. This daily article is to give recognition to those pieces that have fewer than 20 comments, regardless of their popularity.

How can you help?

The best way you can help is by giving even one comment to one of the artists featured here. Or if you'd like to help me cut down on the time I spend looking for artwork and artists to feature, you can feel free to give suggestions for individual pieces to feature, artists for the featured artist of the day, or a theme for the next article. And yes, you can suggest yourself ;) Nothing wrong with a little self-promotion. Please send suggestions in a note! I don't get notification when someone leaves a comment on the article.

And on that note, spreading the word would be nice. Go tell your watchers about this! I hope to use these features to encourage everyone to comment more often. Just think about how you feel whenever you get a nice comment or a helpful critique. Let's spread the words around!

It doesn't matter whether you're popular or unheard of, expert or beginner, talented or struggling, if you have pieces with fewer than 20 comments, you're eligible to be featured.

Past Issues

Today's Theme

Digital Surrealism

Tomorrow's theme is Digital Fanart, if anyone wants to make suggestions. (please send in a note!) Suggestions don't have to fit the theme, because I do have a section for random deviations from any category.

Featured Artist

:iconattlid: ~attlid

~attlid is a wonderful equine and macro photographer with impeccable timing for catching shots of jumping, and excellent compositional skills for her macro photography. She, again, receives many favourites, often 40 - 50 or more, but usually fewer than 10 comments.

Not in a BAD way! I like it -- It's a great idea -- It just seems sort of strange, but it's GOOD! It's just that I think MOST people would LIKE to comment on everything, but there just isn't enough time...I fav a HELL of a lot. WAY more than I comment...
I'M GUILTY! lol

Don't worry, I didn't take it in a bad way :) I just wanted to know what you found strange. I agree, I think people want to comment, but a lot of people (like myself) need a bit of a prod to actually do it. I'm way too lazy, but I've found that when I see someone actually asking for a comment in their journal, or see one of the "critique requested" things on the thumbnails in my watchbox, I'm more likely to actually try to think of something to say. And I also wanted to do a feature of some kind, but everyone and their mom does features for artwork without many favs ;)
