Featuring Fine Workmanship by Artisans
This is the fourth in this series that features art by members of the Artisan Crafts gallery that I feature daily in one of my journal modules. I add one each day and each is featured for 24-48 hours and then all are featured at the beginning of the next month as a group. These artisan works are found through my casual browsing and they could be very recently uploaded or they could be older works. They could have been made by very well-known artisans, by someone still unknown, or by someone very new to dA. They are random finds, so one gallery might be represented more than another and one artist might get featured more than once in the same month. My picks are totally random finds and that which struck me as something wonderful... I hope you think so, too, and that you enjoy this new series!
Ring in a Ring and
Sangria Garnet Ring by
~vakadesign (Jewelry)
What I like most about ~
vakadesign's gallery is the rustic and classic Etruscan feel to its look, especially with the granulation in many of her jewelry pieces. The first ring is darkened silver with a 14K gold band around the center with gold granulation and is almost 1/2" (12mm) wide. The second ring is 14K with a faceted oval garnet and also with granulation.

mosaic zibra and
the artists by
~mosaic-masters (Sculpture & Glass)
I did not know exactly what medium was used here when I first saw the thumbs, but when I clicked on them, I was astonished to see that these are lovely and intricate mosaics. These are no small mosaics and as you can see in the second thumb, they are quite large and magnificent. Made by a group of twelve female mosaic artists from Egypt. Please do check out their gallery to see their other equally wonderful and astonishing mosaics.

Sophie Besset at Lyon 3 by
~michaeljack (Textiles > Clothing)
A lovely corseted gown with interesting draped detail in the back. The front of the corset is accented with black piping along the boning and has different sizes of black beads stitched on the center panel.
2009 and
2 Amber by
~F-design (Jewelry and Metalwork)
~
F-design got a DD last summer for the flowing design of his balustrade in the first thumb. The sinuous lines continue in his gold bracelet with amber cabochons, in fact, this gracefulness of line is prevalent in much of his gallery.
L'apres-midi d'une Faune by
~blasphemina (Clothing)
The berry hues in the model's stockings, make-up, and headpiece accent this stunning black dress in the way no other color could be as effective. The dress itself is a marvelously tasteful combination of stripes, florals, tiers, and lace.
Wooden pocket watch by
~Hour-glass9494 (Woodworking)
According to the artist, this watch made entirely from wood "was very hard to saw out the gears and bend the springs. The smallest gear is as large as 0,5cm. Oh and I have said that the watch stops after 5 or 6 seconds; now it works 7 days long. And the clock hasn't any parts which are made of metal; it's all made out of wood."
Silk scarf "Butterflies" and
"Night and Lilies" by
~MigleMigla (Fiber Art)
Javana silver outliner and Javana gutta and silk paint. The artist uses these water-based silk paints on scarves, curtains, and dresses.
Hobbit Box by
~back2root (Woodworking)
First in a London exhibit, then sold to a gallery in Devon, and now in a hotel lobby in Cornwall. Made from London plane and recycled mahogany with each leaf partially hand-carved from tulip wood (poplar).
Purse by
~RodneyHomeMade (Leather)
An asymmetrical design that makes best possible use of a hide and even keeps the hide's natural imperfections, which are quite handsome and add interest to the whole. The handle is one with the hide, having been made by cutting two slits in the hide and then binding the leather between them with a separate strip of leather to give it its round shape. Another view can be seen
here.
Nr. 57 and
Nr. 54 by
~AannNdddDI (Culinary Arts)
Culinary photos like these make me happy. This looks good not just to eat, but to make you happy all over. Please do check these two soups out because you might find yourself wanting to try making them yourself. The first one is a
spicy cherry cream soup and will be really nice for those balmy summer days and evenings. The artist said it's more like a fruit cream than a soup. The second one is an
onion cream soup.
Steampunk Neck Corset by
~MirabellaTook (Metalwork)
A neck corset that laces at the sides with ribbons and made from copper with sterling silver and brass. The cameo in the center is in sterling silver, using the repoussé technique that raises the design in relief by hammering from the underside of the metal.
Egret by
~EmeraldTigerlily (Quilting)
A quilt that's a mosaic of patchwork pieces in subtle earthtone colors.
Still by
~shellest (Sculpture & Glass)
An unframed stained glass piece of Spectrum baroque glass in various colors with a little opaque black glass used in the leaf next to what looks to be a lotus floating on water.
Cat in blood and
The lady in the rye by
~rahea-the-witch (Fiber Art)
Two lovely vibrant panels that were handpainted on China silk.
sapphire waves by
~gabrielbishop (Jewelry)
An asymmetrical ring (seen from above) with a wonderful black Tahitian pearl and cast in 14K white gold with variously colored sapphires.
"Handable" Series Goblets by
~JDilorenzo (Sculpture & Glass)
A set of differently shaped goblets, three of them with black stems and feet and the other two with black stems and clear feet.
Lackadaisy Mordecai by
~AppleJuiceJadeDear (Quilting)
These are quilt panels and are fan art of *
tracyjb's
Lackadaisy comic. The first one is the character Mordecai Heller and the second one is Rocky Rickaby.
orchid ring by
~marieeverousseau (Jewelry)
A ring in a stylistic design of an orchid in sterling silver, 18K gold, and a green tourmaline.
Mayan Stained glass and
Hummingbirds Morninglories by
*HouseofChabrier (Sculpture & Glass > Stained Glass)
A very versatile artist, equally talented working with stained glass, drawing, painting, and metalwork.
