From the way it started out, I would think it would receive a more negative connotation.

While the article proves to be an interesting and somewhat insightful read, this is not going to change the perceptions of people of the general kind, about the stereotypes and views of whwatever that kind of culture is. People liked to be played on the emotional fears, and the media tends to manipulate information in order to "sensationalize" news and make it appear twisted the way they wanted their audience to perceive as such.

Generally not all humans are that open-minded or close-minded, as there is definitely going to be some bias in the way they judge such kinds of culture or specialty interests. As for me, artwork is as far as I can only go in that aspect of the fandom. As for the others, they know better.
