...is under way!
We have updates!![but not all are as smooth and "perfect" is we want,
but it's as good as it's going to get!
..and this HAS to be great!]
Before I get into the details,
If you haven't read
aboutThe Beth Anderson Fund...you need to read about it here:
[link]and, most importantly
fave the News Article here:
[link]so the word reaches more people!!!
[She needs all the awareness she can get!]
ON WITH THE NEWS AND THE PROCESS!!

(Due to some bank difficulties and logistics of making an actual
charitable donation account, it's sadly not going to be as cut-and-dry and simple as we had WISHED a charity account would be here. But! There are solutions, and here is the announcement! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!! [sayyy, to like, oh i don't know? rich people?

....juuust kidding!] Anyway, here goes:

A Donation Bank Account has been established for the medical expense relief of Beth Anderson. The account is held at the Member's First Federal Credit Union in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and will be administered by Kimberly McKonly. [my mother] Donations in
any amount can be made via check or money order
payable to "Beth Anderson Medical Fund". [This is the 'name' under which check donations are addressed to.] These funds can then be snail-mailed to:
Beth Andersen Medical Fund
c/o Kristie and Kim McKonly
3266-2 Rosstown Road
Wellsville, PA 17365.
We are also
attempting to open a Pay-Pal account for the same purpose. This would allow those residing outside of the United States to contribute without having to decipher the U.S. conversion factors. This will take approximately 2 weeks to complete due to the logistics involved. [Beth has to be present to sign for, under her own name, for this account until we get rights to the account number to establish a PayPal account. And, as of right now, she is
unaware these efforts are being made for her. But she is expected to arrive sometime
around this June 17th or so and get settled.] The account that is being set up will actually not be
activated until Beth arrives. It would be beneficial for us to know if someone is interested in utilizing the PayPal option; this way we don't pay unnecessary fees for an account would otherwise be dormant. If I know that someone will be using the
Pay-Pal method of donation, I will move to make this option available more speedily. Conversely, if no one chooses to use this method I will not go through the red-tape of creating it.
Our attorney has informed us that it will be costly to apply for
Non-Profit status on the account, which would allow donations to be tax-deductible as charitable contributions; thus, we have opted
not to do this at this time. Donations can be deducted as "gifts" if you qualify for this deduction. However!
If anyone
was considering contributing this way and has now decided
against doing so because we do not have a Non-Profit status please inform us of this so that we can decide if the benefit outweighs the costs involved. Obviously, we would like every penny to go
directly toward defraying medical expenses; however, if there were a large donation hinging on the non-profit application we will seriously consider taking the appropriate steps.
**END NOTICE**
For now, as it is planned, checks/payments made to "Beth Anderson Medical Fund" will
not be processed ("cashed") until she arrives in less than two weeks and can sign for her own account here; but, we will notify you the moment your contribution has been processed so your checkbooks are balanced and you're aware where you stand financially.
Also, I realize that she will be here very shortly. And, I
NEVER want to pressure anyone under these circumstances, but I feel as though she would be more excited signing her name on the dotted line to this account made for her if she knows there are
already checks here waiting to be invested in this account! It'd be so sooo much more exciting to see something's already begun and flourished before she's even
arrived, than to be like "eh, I don't want to get my hopes up and sign my name and wind up with three bucks to my name in 6 months". I
don't want to let her down and this is the best way I can foresee that being so successful.
