How would you feel if you opened a library book and found a note saying that you're a beautiful person for being who you are? What if you logged in to your deviantART account, and found similar messages in your message center, would it make you smile? Excuse me for being presumptious here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it would.

The Truth About Popular "Artist" Mijn Schatje

reports, June 9Popular vector "artist" Mijn Schatje is being accused of plagiarism by members of the ball joint doll collectors community. There is evidence proving that she has obtained photos of dolls from private owners and doll manufacturer websites without permission and traced them to create her pieces. She has also stolen other elements used in her work.
Mijn not only claims her work is her own, original "from scratch" art, but has also sold prints at over $1,000 a pop and has been featured in numerous art galleries and publications. She has also received awards and done campaigns for Sony, and her art is seen on clothing as well.
Most of the parties contacted about Mijn have said that she did not obtain permission to use their photos, and demand for the art to be taken down. However she is continuing to upload works in progress on her myspace and facebook pages using more stolen photos.
While this post is meant to be informative, it in no way means I support anyone going out and flaming this person or any other entity involved. Appropriate actions are already taking place, and now the goal is to spread the word.
