Some people think the internet is a waste of time, but I think of it as a great communication tool to meet tons of people. Some of them bad, some of them awesome.
Here's a story on how I met a bunch of these awesome people from DeviantArt this spring.
My plane took off Montreal, Canada on April 19th. After a few hours of silent movies such as Twilight and Benjamin Button (I didn't have earphones), we finally landed in Paris so I could get lost on one of the fifteen or so metro lines. No time to waste! I had a train to take heading for Bordeaux!

Once there, I booked a room for four days at a local youth hostel

I called local ~
lupinbushi
and we went urban exploring a bit around the port with ~
Vinc6

I also achieved to try out the Banner Deluxe camera, a Diana clone of the cheapest type!

Bordeaux is in the south-west of France. It is well-known for its delicious wines and its gigantic sand dune, the Pyla, the biggest in the whole Europe! Of course, we went there and got two huge sunburns on my arms. Dang it. All three of us then headed to Arcachon, some sort of high class local tourist trap, with ~
WODKA87

The day before I left for Paris, I met *
free-way
and we talked about cameras, obviously, travels and drunken adventures. We had a few drinks and I may had a few too many because she SO kicked my sorry ass when we played pool!

On the eh, 25th I think, I took the TGV up to Paris. I booked a night at another crappy youth hostel, but got lucky enough to get ~
Helium-Raven
on the phone the day after.

She's probably the most awesomest of all since she let me stay at her place for more than a week. Trust me, living in 20 square feet with two other individuals is something to try once in a lifetime! We spent a couple of nights on Le Pont des Arts (The Arts Bridge) where hundreds of people meet every night to drink, eat and play music. We finished a very tasty bottle of Uzbek vodka and well... let's just say you can't take pictures nor play any instrument afterwards, ugh.
Of course, I made a stop at the usual attractions; Sacré-Coeur, Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, Jim Morrison's tomb and more recently, Alain Bashung's...

On a strangely sunny-then-cloudy-the-sunny again day, I finally met the wonderful ~
Oeuf-au-riz
at her favorite English library

Towards the end of my trip, I finally got to meet my former homie from Sidharta
[link] and we remembered good times from our last year's tour together around a couple of pints and a piano

We ended up drinking wine and eating croque-monsieurs at six o'clock in the morning. I was feeling more French than ever.
I finally came home on the beginning of May, broke but happy, pockets full of films (as ever) and the head full of memories (aaaaw...). I wish everyone a trip like this, and ask you to always act friendly towards strangers, may they come from another country, the internet or another planet. The world, your life is made out of experiences, of the unknown becoming known. Never underestimate the power of the people you meet, you might just transform them as much as they changed you.
Yeah I suck at conclusions so here are a couple of deviations from the people I met there

when a mistake becomes art-
Maybe when I'm all older, I'll come and visit you in Canada!

You are a radio. You are an open door.
I am a faulty string of blue Christmas lights.
You swim through frequencies. You let that stranger in.
As I'm blinking off and on. And off again.
