Summer is the season for Original Character Tournaments--but only one stands above and beyond the rest in terms of sheer awesome.

What is Henshin Scramble, and what does it mean?
Henshin Scramble is an Original Character Tournament. The name "Henshin" is a term found in Japanese superhero shows. "Henshin" means "Transform".

What's the backstory?

Calling All Heroes and Villains! Henshin City is constantly plagued by alien invasions, rampaging monsters, maniacal magic users, and giant killer mechs. Mayor Delilah, in her fangirlish way, has decided that the only way to counter the threats to the city is to employ its very own hero!

Not just any hero, however--what this city needs is someone who can take on any task. Thus, the Henshin Scramble Tournament was formed! Who will prevail and become the city's protector?

Who can enter?

This tournament is for characters inspired by Japanese superhero shows, also known as "Tokusatsu" and "Magical Girl" shows. These heroes differ from their American counterparts in different ways. The biggest difference is the fact that Japanese superheroes use a "henshin" to transform from their mild-mannered alter ego into their superpowered self. A "henshin" is an over the top, ridiculous transformation sequence. There are also many stylistic differences as well.

This is a comic fighting tournament. Therefore, only comics and animations will be accepted as entries. No writers are allowed in this tournament.

In terms of animation and illustration, any medium may be used--traditional, digital, or a combination of the two. What program or material you use will not be counted against you in the tournament or in the audition rounds.

How do I audition?

The audition must consist of a reference sheet and at LEAST two pages (or one short animation) detailing how your character enters the tournament. They can hear about it from someone or someplace, beat it out of an evil minion, display their prowess in front of the Mayor, her Assistant, or the Police Commissioner-- [link] --the choice is up to you. Show what's exceptionally awesome about your character!

The audition must include the henshin (the transformation sequence) that your character uses to transform into their superhero form.
