I'd better go and get it.. even though I already have 2002... !
~seibetsu:iconseibetsu: Sep 9, 2002, 8:04:07 PM
Sounds pretty good all in all, but I have lots of gripes w/ Norton. Although most of the time it will stop virus, it is at the cost of your system resources and your entire system. Sure you can turn off like a billion option and 'regain' control, but it already has done its damage.

Im not trying to sound like an 'Anti-Norton' guy but that has been my personal experience with the software.

If your looking for a free virus scanner that is just as good as the expensive stuff be sure to go check out AVG ( [link] ). Comes in handy when people don't like you! :D (Big Grin)

hey seibetsu i tried avg and it sucks monkey poop man, i had it for about a coupla months. it doesnt delete the virus--it just deletes the infected files or quarantines them, or "heals" them--which i found only gets re-infected instantly!!!1 i tried this on my comp. when i got Nimda and on my friends comp. when he got Klez. NOT A GOOD PROGRAM!!1 i would trust norton more. i dont mean to flame your comment, its just that i disagree. but tahts just me ;) (Wink)

Computer viruses are like STDs. Don't go doing something stupid and you won't get a virus, it's like safe sex for computers.

Don't open random emails with attachments, don't run random apps you download off of kazaa (illegal anyways usualy), and maybe educate yourself a bit.

Knowledge is your ultimate protection, viral scanners and the like are more akin to having to go into some sleazy place for some ghastly procedure that you can learn about in sex ed ;) (Wink)

Lick me please!

i lurv norton.

sure i loose system resoureces, yadda, yadda.

but if i'm doing any sort of processor / memory intensive work, i yank the network cable anyways - i need to concentrate when i'm doing things and a million IM do not help lol

the realtime protection owns me Nod especially when someone inadvertently mannages to get a virus in a jpeg looking file.. i don't "surf the net" or frequent pornographic websites, open strange emails etc, but its amazing the number of virii i run into in a month just browsing devart, art sites, etc hmm

the worm blocking sounds pretty sweet though.... hopefully the college will purchase an enterprise version (they better update the navnt enterprise, it doesn't work under xp with realtime-ness :o (Eek) ) so that stupid people will not infest the assignments on the servers that we *must* keep a copy of there or else get bitch-slapped by teacher (for 'proof' we made it in class)
