I chose that piece for a DD for the precise reasons as stated in the DD description. And I've no idea why I chose it for June 8th; I just follow the order of my excel planner for DDs. Only on special dates and international holidays do I put up a DD that's relevant to the occasion.

Before I answer any questions, I'm going to toss you the mandatory disclaimer that we all have very different tastes, which hopefully leads to a vast array of different features. If you notice, ^limnides has a taste for the abstract, and I have for the figurative.
Now that that's done and overwith; whereas I do see this piece as being DD material, I wouldn't necessarily DD it myself, simply because it doesn't grab me. It's still a beautiful piece; but I might have forwarded the suggestion to either Katie or to Alysia.

The description in the DD blurb pretty much sums it up. Outside of what the suggester said, I wrote "Dramatic lighting, a wonderfully expressive model and perfect timing work together to create serious impact".
This picture isn't in the gallery that I moderate but it does have a suitable atmosphere to be considered horror-ish (I am so bad with words tonight!) and its just plain awesome so I felt it should be shared with the community at large.

Well I can't really say much about why I chose to feature it on that specific day, but I'm very much in love with the cartoony look of the picture. It looks like one of those images that street artists sometimes make of tourists, where you can tell it's the person but still they look somewhat different.
This is something you don't find very often in vexels, many people rely very closely on the reference picture, so this has been very refreshing and interesting to see.

I chose this one for June 12th because I pick the DDs for Tuesdays and Fridays. No special reason there.
I chose the piece for a DD because it's well-crafted, with neither too little nor too much description. The uniqueness of some of Eliza's thoughts and observations add realism and keep her from being generic. My favorite part is the ambiguity of the ending. The narrator shows us how Eliza's dad wanted to be married forever, constant, and Eliza's mom wanted to divorce and be free from that kind of expectation, and in Eliza you see hints of both traits. She was engaged at twenty-one, but isn't now, for example, which shows us that she promised someone forever and then something happened to end that. As Eliza talks to her mother, looking in at her father and how much Nick might like her father, she's caught halfway between her mother's advice to be free and her father's ideal of devotion. You see that in the way her chair is half pushed away from the table, which is neither under the table her dad and Nick are at, nor free of the table, and the way her fork is on the edge on the plate, where it's not secured but where it hasn't fallen yet.

Honestly all my reasons for it are in the DD comments. Mostly the colors used.

If I had stumbled across that picture I probably would have. I, like ^ctJemm really love the colors that were used and the painted style that the artist used. Also, the design and execution of the girls dress is fantastic! The amount of time put into this one page is truly impressive.

I chose this image as i got it as a DD suggestion, for me, DD suggestions are one of the most exciting notes i get, it brings my attention to artists i may have never come across, and for this image by ~pajaritos i selected it from the suggestions as its pop-funk retro vibe really appealed to me, plus the smooth colouring and glass panel back drop really composed the shot to bring attention to the model.
