Portrait/human photography is one of the largest categories on deviantArt and, in my opinion, also one of the most interesting. Somehow, photos of people never cease to fascinate us, even though we see the subjects around us every day. There’s something in human nature which invites us to look deeper, to explore. Photography is a unique medium in the way that it can portray reality, but say so much more. Portraits can be little windows into our souls, allowing us to see things in faces we never saw before. Emotions, hopes, dreams and fears can all be captured within the photo of a human being. They can even help us to look better at ourselves, helping to know who we are, by recognizing ourselves in others.

DeviantART to me is a community made for sharing and exploring. It has a unique collection of images, which can be intimidating because of it’s size. I already knew a lot of great photography before this feature, but because I believe in exploring the unknown I choose to not only post work previously known to me in this feature. This is the reason a part of this feature consists of work collected for this purpose by means of a post on the forum, where I asked for portrait photography from other artists.
