This time, we'd like to invite you to reinvent yourself and your favorite piece of art in form of a ... square, of course

To APPROPRIATE something involves taking possession of it. In the visual arts, the term appropriation often refers to the use of borrowed elements in the creation of a new work.
Since the 1980s the term has also referred more specifically to quoting the work of another artist to create a new work so as to give it a new and personal interpretation. . The new work does not actually alter the original per se; the new work uses the original to create a new ONE. In most cases the original remains accessible as the original, without change.
The purpose of this can be anything, ranging from political or ironic statements to straight-up and humble homages paid to the original artist. Many artists during the eighties practiced appropriation, such as, to name a few, Barbara Kruger, Sherrie Levine, Robert Longo, David Salle and many others.
When it comes to photography, the Russian photographer Andrey Chezhin who, on top of being an essential artist from the heydays of postmodernism - "the pop eighties" - has also done a brilliant series of photographic appropriations (some of which you can see below), using drawing pins.
Also, enjoy Marcel Duchamp's lovely and famous pastiche of DaVinci's Mona Lisa, and the postmodern interpretations of Michelangelo's La Pieta by Gregor Podgorski.
As you can see, anything goes, with a tad of wit and imagination.

These being said, it's your turn to recreate and revive your favorite work of art and submit it to our contest.

RULES:

2. SUBMISSION PERIOD JUNE 25 - JULY 30.

3 ONE IMAGE PER PARTICIPANT; THINK WISELY AND SUBMIT YOUR BEST; IMAGES MUST BE NEW, TAKEN AFTER THE SUBMISSION DATE OF THIS JOURNAL.

4. EVERYONE IS INVITED, MEMBERS OR NON-MEMBERS - WE ACCEPT PHOTOGRAPHY AND TRADITIONAL ART EQUALLY.

5. THE SUBMITTED IMAGE WILL BEAR THE TITLE OF THE ORIGINAL WORK, FOLLOWED BY "...REVISITED"(ex. VanGogh Sunflowers Revisited)

6.THE ARTIST COMMENTS WILL INCLUDE A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL PIECE.

7. IT IS NOT A PROBLEM IF THE ORIGINAL WORK IS NOT SQUARE - JUST MAKE SURE YOURS IS !! 585 / 600 IS NOT A SQUARE!!

8. SEND US THE IMAGES IN A NOTE, ALONG WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
