In the world of dreams, we can find solace, love, and pure satisfaction, but in our most wicked nightmares, we experience terror, loathing, and emptiness. The challenge of this contest is for you to create your own dream or nightmare from scratch, using the deepest and most creative part of your mind to either pull the reader into a place of peace and nostalgia, or to propel them into the fearsome darkness.

The rules are as followed:

I. Each person may submit one-three entries
II. The writing(s) can be poetry or prose/stories
III. Each entry must be specified as a dream or nightmare in the author's comments
IV. The dream(s) or nightmare(s) can be first-person or third-person
V. There is not a minimum or maximum length specification
VI. It must be a new deviation; submitted on/after the date of June 20th, 2009

The deadline is on July 18th, 2009. The judging process will begin shorty after the contest has reached its deadline. There are two rounds of judging; the Preliminary Judging and the Final Judging.

Preliminary Judges; these are the awesome people who will narrow down the entries to their favorite ten



Final Judges; these are the snazzy deviants who select the winning three deviants and the honorable mentions



This is the best group of judges I have ever seen in my life. Also, there are going to be awards given to the winning three deviants and the five honorable mentions that will be selected.

Prizes for the winning deviants:

First place: 3 month subscription from the lovely ^LadyLincoln, journal features from =SeptemberBreeze, =TheFoxAstronaut, and `WineWriter, and a critique on the winning deviation

Second place: Journal features from =SeptemberBreeze, =TheFoxAstronaut, and `WineWriter, and a critique on the winning deviation

When the contest is over and the deviations have been selected, I will create a news article that is titled "Dreams and Nightmares" that will feature all of the entries to this contest.
