<steph1254> Hey I was just wondering what motivates you to make an emote?

<CookiemagiK> Well my main motivation is to become a better animator. My main plan was to start off with emotes and then go over to pixel art but it seems that I've stuck to emotes . Anyway I think my main reason is to just improve my animation

<CookiemagiK> The person who really made me want to start making emotes was ~sereneworx. After seeing emotes I really wanted to try to make them myself

<CookiemagiK> It feels great . Especially when it's something that has taken a lot of time. It's that feeling that makes me want to keep on making more I guess

<CookiemagiK> Tthat's a tough question I can't think of anything weird right now XD But I usually get a lot of them when I'm doing important things

<CookiemagiK> Oh I can't even remember how long I've had that It all started when I was about to try an online rgp game and needed to come up with a name... I just picked 2 random words and then I liked it so much that I've been using it as my screen name for everything

<CookiemagiK> hm... Well I can't just say one peson, and if I try to list them all I would probably end up forgetting some people But I remember when I started dA that `Droneguard and ~crula helped me out a lot with my emotes. So I will always have a lot of respect for those two!

<CookiemagiK> My greatest achievement (if you mean an emote) I think is the Super mario emote bros.
<CookiemagiK> The llama thing started when I noticed the small llama icon that you get when you use a script (I don't remember the name) and I thought dA had removed the big llama

<CookiemagiK> I've been making them ever since I started on deviantART, August 2007

<CookiemagiK> Well the usual: never give up, keep on practising, etc.. ... What I feel helped me a lot when I was new was to download the emotes that I liked and then look at them in my software. So that I could easily see what is done step by step to achieve a specific effect.

<CookiemagiK> My favorite is the Super Mario emote bros one ^^ Mostly because it required a lot of planning and sketching before making the actual peice and it was the first time I had ever done something like that

<CookiemagiK> I wanted to start making emotes after seeing all the emotes submitted on deviantArt Before I joined dA I didn't eally care about emotes or animation at all but seeing all the awesome emotes here really made me want to try

<Lil-Desa> What would you say to help any beginning Emoticonist/Pixel Artist to make them sort of ..feel good about what they're doing? I've known many artists who just stop doing what they do because they see so many people that are 'better' or more popular than them.

<CookiemagiK> Well the best thing is to get encouraged by the fact that there are many great artists out there So that you can always aim to catch up with them ^^ That's how I like to think anyway.

<CookiemagiK> uhm... I would still be making emotes I guess Either that or I would become too insecure and move on to another artform

<CookiemagiK> Well there aren't any effects that I like to create more than other...c: Each time I try to do something I end up getting something else so it's kinda hard to say D: I don't like exploshuns!

<CookiemagiK> That one took me over a week I think.. It's all different based on how many frames there are and how many elements need to be animated ^^ The ninja one also took about a week.

<CookiemagiK> Yes I remember very well. It was after looking ~sereneworx's emotes that I first wanted to start making emotes myself. I had seen other emotes before, but I felt that he managed to put more expression and detail in them in some magical way So that's how I started

<CookiemagiK> Well other than emotes I have a few pixel art in my gallery. I used to do some digital art (characters) way back but I've removed the ones I've uploaded to dA now. So I don't have anything to show

<CookiemagiK> It's my mario emote, mostly because it took a long time to plan the whole thing and it was the first time I had made something that big

<CookiemagiK> Well I think the best thing is to not try to think of ideas. Ideas will always come one way or the other. Just memorize them or write them down when you get them. That is what I usually do.

<CookiemagiK> ... Well I go to the university! Where I study computer science ^^ and right now I have a summerjob

<CookiemagiK> I don't eat anything I don't like to get my keyboard dirty..... I drink water! ^{and sometimes coffee}

<Sushimitzu> Also, how long do you spend making emotes each day?

<CookiemagiK> Well that depends on what I'm making. Some emotes don't take more than a few hours so I can finish them in one day. For the ones that do take several days I usually spend 2-5 hours on them. I think.
